Dovecot/Sieve shortcuts?
Hi, Is there a clean way to match on an email address the way procmail ^TO_ did? that was a macro which expanded to (^((Original-)?(Resent-)?(To|Cc|Bcc)|(X-Envelope |Apparently(-Resent)?)-To):(.*[^-a-zA-Z0-9_.])?) so you could write * ^TO_dovecot dovecot and grab messages to the list. In sieve, I find myseld writing ["To","cc"] and wonder if there's a better way. Adam

Migrating to sieve
Hi, As I migrate to sieve, I would like to carry over the logic I had in procmail rules, which let me take all mail where I'd never sent email to that address into a final spam catchall, which I called "neversent." I see that sieve can't run external programs, and I wonder if that means I'm SOL, or is there an alternate approach that does roughly the same thing? (I

Hi all, I recently migrated my system (postfix/Dovecot)from mbox to Maildir. Almost everything is working (phone and thunderbird show all my mail and folders with mail) However I am stuck on my .procmailrc rules # cat /etc/procmailrc SENDMAIL=/usr/sbin/sendmail SENDMAILFLAGS=-oi LOGFILE=/var/log/procmail.log ORGMAIL=${HOME}/Maildir/ DEFAULT=${ORGMAIL}

Matching regexps
Hi, I'm having some trouble with matching. The regexp in my dovecot.sieve file should match on email addresses, but does not. # The code: if header :matches "From" "<[a-z0-9-]*@[a-z0-9-.]*>" { set "sender" "${1}"; } if not execute "grepfrom" ["${sender}"] { if envelope :matches "from" "*" { set

Postfix Question
I've googled around and although I get a lot of hits about postfix smarthost authentication with ssl, I can not find out how to actually accomplish the task. I've read through smatterings of postings from Neophasis and the like searching for just the syntax and what file (I assume it's main.cf) I should be using; however, any smtpd_ lines I have tried result in postfix hanging and

Programming ....
Hi, I am building my own TCP daemon for easing some routine admin stuff... I am no expert on security,. I would really appreciate it if someone sent me some pointers to writing TCP daemons that are hacker-proof( i know there is nothing like that...but I do not want to be making mistakes in coding that are well known.. ;) The daemon runs as root....so that is why I am woried.... Thx, Arni

Named update for RH 4.2 exploitable?
Someone I was speaking with this evening claimed they have installed the latest named rpms yet they are still getting exploited daily and being hacked. Do the latest rpm''s for the named 4.9.x stuff fix all the root exploits or is this person just an idiot who probably has holes elsewhere in the system?

Safely piping to a shell script
Thanks for the previous answer on :execute. In thinking about malicious input, I am worried about the possibility that mail will be sent with a clever from line. (Section 7 of http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc5229.txt is great, btw) To address this, I'm considering the following, and would appreciate feedback. I'm aware that this doesn't capture all emails, those with non-alphanum are

So I'm confused as to why you're piping back from procmail to dovecot LDA, rather than having procmail be the final LDA. Why not use: :0 w * ^List-ID:.*jenkinsci-dev.googlegroups.com mailing-lists/jenkinsci-dev/ (The trailing slash tells procmail that jenkinssci-dev is a maildir, not an mbox) Also, procmail is way out of date, no longer maintained, and there are "semi" known
