shorewall compile as non-root user
Hello,
please excuse me if this has been discussed or even solved before, but
I could not find it in the archives.
I''m in the process of migrating several gateways to shorewall-lite,
keeping the configfiles on one central adminstrative machine,
basically following the guide at
http://www.shorewall.net/CompiledPrograms.html .
As I understand it, the local /etc/shorewall directory on the

I just installed stock shorewall-3.4.2 and shorewall-perl-3.9.0 under

and modified shorewall.conf by adding "SHOREWALL_COMPILER=perl". I

By default Shorewall in Ubuntu has an empty set up. You can find the
default values for Shorewall in
/usr/share/doc/shorwall-common/default-config. And examples in
/usr/share/doc/shorwall-common/examples. We will create a basic set up.
First configure which network adapters we are accessing the net.

Shorewall 4.0.0 + Kernel 2.6.21.5-grsec
Hello,
My hoster updated its kernel packages... It contained some old problems
that should have been fixed. My servers have now a wonderful 2.6.21.5
kernel + grsec running.
Both are running Debian 4.0 (stable release).
