SNOM loses server registration
Hello to all
When my SNOM (300 or 320) loses Internet connectivity, it loses its
Asterisk registration (ok, thats normal).
But when the phone is back online, he doesn't try to register in
Asterisk. I believe this happens to avoid flooding the private LANs when
the Internet link is lost.... but the problem is that the phones don't
try to re-register in the future.... Sometimes it stays

Problems with TDM400P & X100P
Hi,
I had ordered a TDM40B and developers kit a few months ago. I have everything installed and working, with one exception - sound quality. When placing a call it sounds like a very bad cordless phone - lots of hiss / static in the background. This even happens with the dialtone, though it is much worse one the call is connected. This does not occur when the phone is directly connected to the

Shore wall and multi ISPs and ip addresses
Hi All!
I only ever have complex setups.
Customer site has a dedicated leased line from their ISP terminating on a
Cisco router. Router is configuered with the first usable address on a /28
network - 196.x.y.73. The linux firewall is configured with the remaining 5
ip''s, 196.x.y.74 to 196.x.y.78 and 79 as the broadcast. Sounds normal but here
is the twist. The primary or first ip

Snapshot that won''t go away.
I have a Solaris 10 update 6 system with a snapshot I can''t remove.
zfs destroy -f <snap> reports the device as being busy. fuser doesn''t
shore any process using the filesystem and it isn''t shared.
I can unmount the filesystem OK.
Any clues or suggestions of bigger sticks to hit it with?

?barracuda? listing in logwatch session 123 of user root.
My nightly logwatch report had a never before seen
section last night, "barracuda spam firewall".
I have not problem with the emails it noted as
being rejected. But I've always thought of "barracuda"
as a commercial product.
I have neither configured nor enabled any barracuda
software and "yum list '*barrac*'" comes up empty.
What is this?

bug in channel_still_open() ?
channel_still_open() does not count "larval" channels as open. If the server
sets up a protocol 2 connection with no remote command (as with "ssh -N ..."),
the "server-session" channel remains larval, and the server exits as soon as
it notices that there are no open channels besides this one. Typically, it
exits right after the first use of a port forwarding closes.

Matching Malloc and Free
I would like to profile heap usage on a per thread basis in a large application process. To do this I am tracking calls to malloc and free with the attached script. Everything seems to look OK with some simple test programmes, however, when I track the live system, the results suggest that one thread has grown by approximately 1Gb and I would be surprised if this was true because I ran pmap -x on

Issues with building package with C src on windows [R CMD INSTALL ignoring makefile]
I've written a rather complex package that requires overriding the default compilation behavior for the C code component. In the src dir I have a Makefile that is used correctly on OSX and Linux builds of the package, but completely ignored on windows.
R CMD INSTALL <package>
on windows runs Makeconf instead of running make on my Makefile. If run make in the src directory

nlockdmgr listen on privileged port
hey list!
I am attempting to shore up some centos machines (ranging from centos
5 to centos 5.4) for pci compliance by changing the port that
nlockdmgr listens on to function under a privileged port.
So what I did was try to hardcode the port by editing /etc/sysconfig/nfs
# TCP port rpc.lockd should listen on.
LOCKD_TCPPORT=1011
# UDP port rpc.lockd should listen on.
LOCKD_UDPPORT=1011

BUG: scp -r follows symlinks
hey all
'scp -r ' follows symlinks. IMO this is a bug and should be changed - it:
a) hampers the use of scp. As it stands, I cannot use 'scp -r' because of this
behavior. If someone links to '/', or if I hit a recursive symlink, I'm screwed.
b) It is inconsistant with cp. When you 'cp -r' on a file, it does NOT follow the
symlink. When you scp

downgrading packages
After the large update from 7.2 -> 7.3 there is
one major problem, the amanda backup packages.
Strange situation, the host is the amanda server
is working fine at backing up all my remote clients.
But it has an error backing up itself.
The amanda packages did not change version (3.3.3)
and I've done no configuration change.
I'm not looking for help debugging this at the moment.

Urgent - I really need some help lme4 model avg Estimates
...erefore, we model- averaged the parameter estimates included in
these 2 best models (Table 3). Of the 5 habitats in which we observed
plovers feeding, effect size was highest at artificial tidal ponds (5.52),
followed by the intertidal zone (3.97). Positive effects of ephemeral pools
(2.65) and bay shores (2.32) on adult foraging rates were 48% and 42% lower
than artificial ponds,
respectively. Conversely, sand flats (-2.30) had an equal but opposite
effect on foraging rate, when compared to bay
shores. The results also indicated that foraging rate was highest for adults
during the post-breeding sta...

viewport bug in 2.8.0?: Error: Cannot pop the top-level viewport (grid and graphics output mixed?)
I get the following error message followed by instability in R after the
error message:
Error: Cannot pop the top-level viewport (grid and graphics output

Have reduced something much more complex in my code to a simple test case.
I run the following and then resize the window:
X = seq (1,10)
Y = X^2
opar <- par(no.readonly=TRUE, mar = c(2.5, 3.1, 1, 2))

fprintd needed?
On a 7.2 desktop system I see irregular attempts to start
the fingerprint authentication daemon "fprintd".
One of the messages is
"D-Bus service launched with name: net.reactivated.Fprint"
This fails as there is no fingerprint device.
fprintd.service is disabled.
Without a fingerprint device, is this software needed.
