Convert "ragged" list to matrix
Hi, I have a list made up of character strings with each item a different length (each item is between 1and 6 strings long). Is there a way to convert a "ragged" list to a matrix such that each item is its own row? Here is a simple example: a=list(); a[[1]] = c("a", "b", "c"); a[[2]] = c("d", "e"); a[[3]] = c("f",

Multiple copies of a message
I have a problem and I don't know which part of the mail chain could be causing it, although dovecot does seem to be the most logical source. I get multiple copies of messages to my Inbox. I have just deleted 24 copies of a newsletter from Computer Shopper. The worst example I have seen of this had more than 90 copies. This doesn't happen to any subfolder of Inbox, just Inbox itself. The problem started about 10-14 days ago, on the old mail server (running Mandriva 2007.1). The new server runs CentOS and exhibits the same problem. I'd...

Trouble combining :has_many, :finder_sql and :conditions to create a sub-search

For example, given an instance of Store called macys, I can get its visitors with macys.people. However, this all goes badly when I try to perfor...

CSRF resets my session in Firefox
...ifically. I''ve got an ajax based form, using UJS (yes, I have csrf_meta_tag in my layout and I''ve tried adding the X-CSRF-Token header to the ajax beforeSend events without any luck)... The form just posts some data to an ajax method that creates, saves, and sets the session for a shopper as well as for a hit object, then returns some JSON. This works in Chrome and Safari (haven''t tested IE yet), but Firefox is a no-go. Basically, the session gets reset by CSRF (I confirmed this by setting config.action_controller.allow_forgery_protection to false and it works), but the wei...

...ting more homes on the market. Many owners have been waiting to sell because their homes are still ?underwater,? or worth less than their mortgage. Mark Cenci, broker with ERA Martin & Associates in Chillicothe, Ohio, said buyers need to be aware that the market is changing. Sometimes home shoppers are confused, he said, because there appear to be a lot of houses listed for sale, but many are actually under contract. ?They think there?s plenty of houses, and that they can find what they want and get a great price,? he said. But that?s not necessarily the case. So what should a home sh...

They also need to submit fairly demanding calculation + database update requests. Have you designed a similar Ruby application? What did you do? I''ll try to summarize the approachs I''m considering

RoR vs JavaScript/AJAX vs Java interface. Conflicting ideas?
...#39;'s fine and sounds ok but is it really the best option? Right now I''m convinced I want to use Rails for the server side but is JavaScript the best option for the client side? More requirements could be placed on the computer where the admin interface is used than the storefront for shoppers. I''ve been reading about Java Web Start applications. It might be easier to build a big admin application with Java given all the mature GUI libraries that exist for Java compared to those that exist for JavaScript. And this would save some server time and make a snappy interface for the...

Terminology
Hello folks, I''ve blended/updated the Glossary of Terms (<http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/GlossaryOfTerms>). It seems the definition of "manifests" is a bit different amongst members. Some people consider a "manifest" to be a configuration file written in puppet, e.g. any .pp file. But at my organization, we''ve considered the totality

Ok.. I'm starting official testing calls early this release. I'd like to have more feedback and more time for handling fixes. If people could test snapshots (http://www.openssh.org/portable.html, pick your favorate mirror and select snapshots directory) and report failures it would be useful. For those with pmake install there is regress/ which you can try out. It may help any platform
