SYSLINUX 3.36-pre6 (release candidate)
I have, hopefully, found and fixed the issue with non-kernel binaries that appeared in 3.35. As a result, I have pushed out 3.36-pre6 and am classifying it as a release candidate. Please try it out, especially if you have had problems with 3.35. ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/ -hpa

Failing to get pxechain.com working, SYSLINUX 3.86.
To start, I know I need to upgrade SYSLINUX, but since we are using the CMenu's it's not that easy of an upgrade. I have been (slowly) working on a new iPXE/pxelinux 4.04 install that I am migrating to. However, I have an interesting problem. Using any of the examples I have seen, I can not make pxechain.com work. "pxechain.com ::/path/pxelinux.0" "pxechain.com

Strange behavior
I'm using syslinux 4.04 with dynamically generated menus configuration based on info found in various web pages. I'm doing my testing using a vCetner 4.10 Vmware virtual machine. This works some of the time, but not always. I just copied the prebuilt modules from the syslinux 4.04 distribution for gpxelinx.0, menu.c32, reboot.c32, and pxelinux.0 When I boot a machine dhcpd says to boot

question regarding memdisk, and menu/complex.c or simple.c
has anyone got memdisk to work directly? i mean such as: add_item("W98 Boot","Windows 98 Boot",OPT_RUN, "memdisk initrd=98se.ima",0); I have tried various methods, and I get the same results: Loading memdisk....Ready. MEMDISK 3.11 2005-09-02 Copyright 2001-2005 H. Peter Anvin MEMDISK: No ramdisk image specified! I know I can setup (in my case)

Need help chainloading from isolinux.
i am trying to use chain.c32 with isolinux to load WinPE/BartPE/etc and I can not get it to work. I have tried with the simple.c32, and just from the isolinux prompt. I have tried 3.32-pre6, 3.20, and jumped back and tried 3.08. All configurations fail with 'Cannot read Master Boot Record'. The boot sectors are known to be good, and are known to work with chain.c32 with pxelinux.

Regression in SYSLINUX 3.35?
It appears there may be a regression with the keeppxe option and/or the ability to keep the pxe stack available to programs. I have noticed this with a few different things now, most notably attempting to boot FreeBSD's pxeboot[.0], although I have a old? linux kernel/initrd that exhibits the same symptoms. In the case of FreeBSD it loads pxeboot.0, and then spews messages about not being

Req: download timer
Does anyone have a module they have wrote and are willing to share to measure the time an image takes to download? As my last post indicates, I am experimenting with gPXE, and am interested in benchmarking tftp/lighttpd/apache for transfers of images / files. I sadly lack any real programming skills, and get called away from my desk enough that sitting there with a stop watch isn't

Possible regression in 3.83
Hey all, I recently updated to syslinux 3.83, I am getting machines rebooting or locking after loading PC DOS. Most notably with Hitachi's Disk Fitness Test (http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT) Version 4.16. At first it was a trickle, and now it seems I am having the issue with more hardware. I downgraded to syslinux 3.81, and everything is happy again. The Current

gpxe + SYSLINUX menus = Fail?
I am attempting to setup a test gpxe(linux.0) http site, to test among other things the recent dynamic option 252 solution. In the process of investigation I stumbled across http://www.etherboot.org/wiki/appnotes/authmenus which indicates the gpxe can launch vesamenu.c32 directly. Various other pages on etherboot's site indicate menu.c32/vesamenu.c32 can be used independently as well.

default64 patch?
I stumbled across the following patch and wondered if it wouldn't be a good idea to have it included. http://foldingcd.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/*checkout*/foldingcd/trunk/folding_cd/patches/syslinux-3.51-64bit.patch?revision=5 It adds a default64 keyword and detection of a 64bit processor. It could be useful for mixed environments. The patch is against 3.51, but looks like it would port

memdisk image problems on shuttle hardware
hpa, Seeing your post about 3.71, I wanted to get a message out even though I don't have the stats right now. I am having a problem with memdisk with a lot of shuttle computers, but also affects a variety of other hardware (low though, 5%? less?). The image that I can most reliably test against is the Hitachi Drive fitness Test.

isolinux regression? / problem? v3.50 and newer.
Greetings, I have been using isolinux with Microsoft's cdimage.exe for my Utility / Preinstallation cds. I just upgraded from 3.36 to 3.55 and found it to be non functional. I didn't use the -debug version, it just hangs at the version banner. I went through several previous versions, and it appears that 3.50-pre23 is the last working version. I didn't see anything between that

3.86-pre1 gpxelinux.0 SIS900 long boot time / fails to boot / no entries in tftp server log
Okay guys, This is separate from my last few messages. Along with those attempts, I decided to migrate from pxelinux.0 to gpxelinux.0 in my existing setup. Admittedly I haven't tried previous gpxelinux.0's but I am willing to if someone thinks it would be useful. Everything works as expected with pxelinux.0 of the same version. With gpxelinux.0: TFTP Prefix: Trying to load:

pxelinux / memdisk / afud408 freeze.
Has anyone had a problem with afud408 (Award flash program) freezing the system when ran from memdisk? The freeze occurs when just running afud408 (not attempting to update bios, although it freezes then as well.) I was using pxelinux/memdisk 3.36, I upgrade to 3.51, and also fell back to 2.11 all have the same issue. I have tried all the switches for memdisk that I saw posted on the memdisk
