And if it is then still slow because some people have folders with
shitloads of emails, you may consider switching your mail storage over
to mdbox with enabled compression.

Awfully slow dovecot
Hi,
We?re using dovecot 1.0.7, which seems to be the latest version available on CentOS 5.
Downloading emails are dead slow. Really small emails goes quickly, but normal emails and emails with attachments are so slow to download it?s almost ridiculous. I?ve googled some and found that it could be related to quota, but I disabled the quota plugins on imap with no difference.

1.0-test17

Just mbox fixes since 1.0-test16. The logic is simpler and more correct
now. Can anyone break it anymore? I actually tested it a while with
Evolution and several mailboxes and it didn't break at least
immediately. :)
Now maybe a few more days and I dare trying this thing myself with my
real mboxes (yes, I'm still using them).

Icecast or Apache streaming for static files?
Hi,
A simple question, that I would appreciate some opinions on:
What are the advantages for using Icecast to stream static MP3 files
rather than just letting Apache handle the streaming?
Many thanks,
Glen Scott

QoS What to do?
Searching the archives there has been some discussion
about the need for QOS routing on a mixed voice data
broadband like ADSL.
Has anyone run * on a production system with voice and
data.
Can anyone share what has to be done to secure the
voice and throttle back the data?
If a linux router is need can that run on the * box to
reduce cost?
All help is gratefully received, so I can plan a

Slackware 9.1 Install Help
Hi,
I'm trying to install Asterisk onto a fresh install of Slackware 9.1...
I've installed all packages in A, AP, D, E, F, K, L, N... So basically

Following the commands on the Asterisk website I checked out the CVS
source and started compiling... Zaptel and

Can I use direct attached storage as a shared filesystem in Xen
I have a quad core server in which I want to run 4 virtual servers. On this
server I have a 1/2 terabyte raid 1 I have split between the 4 members that
have the OS on it. I have raid 5 10 terabyte internal storage running on a
3ware 9690a card. I want to share this storage between the servers without
partitioning it. Is this possible?

which server to buy?
Hello!
Please, help me, I''m totally lost choosing basic budget server for XEN.
The variants are Sun (X2200 M2 or Sun X2250 M2) or maybe HP Proliant
DL160 G5p. Or maybe some IBM server?
Which X2200 configuration will perform better, two Opteron dual-core
22xx or single quad-core 23xx?
Which one performing better nowadays, Opteron or Xeon? I know that 2-3
years ago Opteron was the

any pointers for starting a windows port?
Hello
I am entertaining the idea of putting some time and effort into
making Facter and Puppet run on MS Windows. Call me crazy ...
Does anyone know anything about the issues that I''m likely to face?
What are the major stumbling blocks?
Initially I''d be happy just getting File to work, this would be of
tremendous value.
I''m guessing that Facter will require the

TST is right out
Hi Zed,
I checked in a pure-Ruby URI classifier to Mongrel trunk. Ola''s Java
port of the TST had some bug, and I don''t think it''s necessary in the
first place. The Ruby classifier is around 25 lines instead of the
400-odd lines for the C extension and the 200-odd for the Java
extension. It uses a Regexp which is perhaps shady:
@matcher = Regexp.new(routes.map do

I Would Really Like to Try RoR but...
it''s been a nightmare trying to set it up. I keep getting a an
Application Error message when I try to navigate to a url which should
be taken care of by my newly created controllers. For instance, I
wanted to test RoR out so I created a MyTest controller which should
allow me to navigate something like:
http://localhost/rubytest/MyTest
but it does not. I have no problem getting

Xen with dom0 pvops on ultra-recent "git tip" kernel on x86_64
Hi everyone,
I am very excited to see that dom0 pvops is finally coming close to
working, so I wanted to give it a try.
>From the description it was not clear to me which kernel to chose as
base for the patches.hg, so I took the latest (that was ~ 2 weeks ago)
kernel on git.kernel.org I could find (post-2.6.28 git tip at that
point).
I managed to more or less apply all of the patches in the
