configure bug
This was dicovered in openssh-2.9p2 on BSDi 4.1. If you configure
--with-ssl-dir and give a relative path (like ../openssl-0.9.6b), it will
not compile because that path is no longer valid once it cds to
openbsd-compat. In the CPPFLAGS variable in openbsd-compat/Makefile, you
can put in another ../ (-I../openssl-0.9.6a/include becomes
-I../../openssl-0.9.6a/include) and it works.

contrib/solaris/opensshd.in patch
This patch adds the seatbelts which _only_ kill parent sshd procs... -RMallory
(eg: when you ssh into a machine and pkgadd the new openssh, it will not
kill your current (or anyone else's sshd session)
onanother_note: the buildpkg.sh could use some exec_prefix functionality...
to deal with ./configure --prefix= --exec_prefix=/usr

Protocol 2 remote port forwarding
Hi all,
I'm using openssh-2.9p2 on Solaris 2.8. I can get remote port forwarding to
work using the -R flag, but only with ssh protocol 1 not ssh protocol 2.
I've read that remote forwarding protocol 2 was not supported in earlier
versions of openssh, but I'm wondering if this is still the case. Jarno
Huuskonen [Jarno.Huuskonen at uku.fi], posted a patch in 2000 to add support

The OpenSSH project turns five years old
The OpenSSH project turns five years old
----------------------------------------
Five years ago, in late September 1999, the OpenSSH project was started.
It began with an audit, cleanup and update of the last free version
of Tatu Ylonen's legacy ssh-1.2.12 code. The project quickly gathered
pace, attracting a portability effort and, in early 2000, an independent
implementation of version 2

...cleanup, (void *)s);
should make sure, that the utmp entry is cleared, but it obviously
doesn't work as I expected from that statement.
Best regards,
