The call should be protected before evaluation though. So more like:
Shield<SEXP> call(Rf_lang2(asEnvironmentSym, x));
return Rcpp_fast_eval(call, R_GlobalEnv);

Can't run program; exec-shield or prelink active?
I have a large installer program (~400MB) that fails to run under wine
(20050310). It gives me the following:
err:virtual:map_image Image was mapped at 0x60640000: standard load address

err:virtual:map_image Do you have exec-shield or prelink active?
wine: could not load L"C:\\WebPACK_71_fcfull_i.exe" as Win32 binary
The thing is that I don't seem to have either (exec-shield or prelink).
The /proc/sys/kernel/exec-shield entry isn't present, and prelink isn't
intalled. Other programs run fine. What...

Correct.

Yep. This is what I'm in the middle of.
So far I see that it seems the scheduler is keep running on shielded cores
no matter what.
Even if there is only 1 core in the shield.
Thanks

how do I make my headset work
...es/works, so that may be all wrong.
You can get cheap devices that plug into a 3-prong outlet and have little
LED lights that indicate whether the wiring is correct, as regards ground
and neutral, or not.
Also, it's possible that you've got a cheap headset/mic combo that does
not have the shielded audio cable wired correctly. It's also possible
that it's a cheap-a** rig that doesn't even use shielded cable from the
plug to the mic/phones.
I've got one such headset here that injects hum into the microphone feed
on either my desktop or my netbook. however, when using the net...

New LLD performance builder
Disabling swap and having a single CPU in the shield group didn't change
much, besides cpu-migrations and context-switches, which now are 0
obviously.
That clustering remains the same. It is also stable to the number of runs
(I have changed the test to run 20 times in the middle of that range on the
right).

Data Stale at random intervals

A wrong number for the udev rules file would prevent the driver from starting at all due to permissions errors. It is possible that 52 and 62 are currently in the acceptable range.

New to Wine
I am new to Wine and recently tried to get an application to run under
Wine. I was able to get the application to work by copying a working
Program Files folder to the .wine directory. There were two (really 3)
problems.
1) Install Shield failed to work, I gather this is a common problem
2) The App uses a Rainbow Technologies hardware lock.
3) Install Shield for the hardware lock drivers failed.
My question is there any resource which can assist resolving the Install
Shield issues and getting the hardware lock to work?

Data Stale at random intervals
Have done more Googling and searching around the system. Found that /lib/udev/rules.d/52-nut-usbups.rules has been changed to 62 by others and also in Sid (2.7.4) so gave that a shot. Will post back with results.

Install Shield Error While Installing Alien vs Predator 2
Hi,
I'm using Fedora Core 1. I downloaded wine 20031212 (rpm format) and
installed it successfully.
The Alien vs. Predator 2 (AVP2) uses Install Shield, so I downloaded
DCOM98.
When I install DCOM98, I recieved the error message about "an older
version", but I solved it with copying some windows DLL files to the
"c:\\windows\system" folder.
Then I try to install AVP2, but I recieved another error message:
