Comparing against values (e.g. date ranges)
...and (month =1 or month = 2 ...)) I think Olly said he was considering adding something to Xapian, so the same fields used for sorting can be used for range comparison. Any progress on this? Francis (this is all for http://www.theyworkforyou.com which has a 4.2G Xapian database and growing!) -- Shhh! Abolish parliament quietly http://www.saveparliament.org.uk

CRAN Windows links
The links to windows-9x and windows-NT on the CRAN Windows download page seem to be broken. I have the impression that the files are all in the base directory, for which the link works. Also, the ReadMe.rw1022 makes no mention of the file rw1022wh.zip. Paul Gilbert -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-devel mailing list -- Read

how to compress 93gb speech mp3 files to opus files
...ed some mp3 files to opus recursively with foobar2000 and lamexp(a gui front end for lame) and the resulted opus files were satisfactory. The quality of opus file generated is much higher than mp3 file generated using same bitrate and same sample rate. The quality I mean there are less sounds like shhh garrrr and other electronic sounds. So I have decided to compress and convert all these mp3 speech files to opus. I have examined some tools like ffmpeg, lame, foobar. lamexp tool is taking much time to convert and foobar is taking very much less time to convert. I want to maintain high quality in...

Re: Need AMD debugging help
Great call, Jason. The trouble may also be from overclocking their CPU's. We ran into some similar bug reports in the Furthur project with people swearing up and down that random application hangs and glitches was our software (which in part it was). However, as soon as they brought their CPU's and video cards back to spec, their problems magically went away. I would follow this one up

SIP / STUN / Network - Help!!
...AT and I've configured the LinkSys router to port-forward ports 5060 (TCP & UDP) and all the RTP port range used (UDP only) to the static IP of the AsteriskNOW box. - Was this the right thing to do? Although my home IP is supposed to be 'dynamic', it hasn't changed in 4 years! (shhh! Don't tell anyone, okay) - My LinkSys router DHCP's it's 'real-world-IP-address' DNS server, etc., from my cable-modem. So I set up yet another Sipura SPA-1001, pointed it to my 'real-world' IP, etc., took it to my my office, and it didn't work. - Naturally. - My l...

Oh oh. Micro$oft just noticed VoIP
It will be interesting to see how many standards get broken, and how many proprietary hooks get thrown into the pot. The bean counters smell some money, and their OS franchise is waning: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/26/technology/26soft.html -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

encoding lots of speech
I had lunch with an interesting guy who had gotten .com-money to record the whole bible professionally with good actors (in swedish and english, kjv). The idea was to sell custom made compilations of biblical texts on cd over internet. The company is now out of money (surprise!), but all the material is recorded (about 350 hours) and if anyone gets a good idea on what to use the material to, it

Broadvoice delivers CID even when restricted?
I can call my Broadvoice DID from a outbound caller-id blocked phone, and BV happily delivers the CID to Asterisk (and then on to my IP phone display.) I've tested with the *67 prefix from a PSTN phone to make sure it was supposed to be blocked. The number is always correct, but sometimes the the caller ID name is set to something funky (like a CO or switch center name.) I *think* this

Mimic something like layout on a smaller scale?
I need to add various header and footer dressings around groups of form fields for GUI goodness, and am wondering if there''s already something out there that will suit my needs. These headers/footers have special properties for display(title, help links, etc...). I want to be able to easily take advantage of the existing HTML helper methods provided for controllers, in a mini-layout type

Feedback on XML metadata namespace
Hi ogg-dev list, After discussing the [lack of] metadata standards on the irc://irc.freenode.net/#Vorbis channel yesterday I figured I had to contribute to this process. Attached is a sample XML formatted metadata sheet describing a song; and shows off other media type elements as well. How this is to be embedded in the OGG container is not my field. I have only spent a couple of hours

[PATCH v3 0/3] virtio DMA API core stuff
This switches virtio to use the DMA API unconditionally. I'm sure it breaks things, but it seems to work on x86 using virtio-pci, with and without Xen, and using both the modern 1.0 variant and the legacy variant. Changes from v2: - Fix really embarrassing bug. This version actually works. Changes from v1: - Fix an endian conversion error causing a BUG to hit. - Fix a DMA ordering issue
