Is fixpaths the only perl dependency?
Hello. I just tried to download and build the 2.3.0.p1 (portable) release with Cygwin on an NT box. It fails to build because of the use of a perl script. Cygwin does not have Perl installed by default and to be honest it seems like a bit of a stretch to require perl to be able to build shh, that just makes it harder to build. I poked around and it seems like these files depend on perl: contrib/make-shh-known-hosts.pl fixpaths fixprogs I took a quick peek at the fixpaths script and it does not look too complex, seems like something an AWK script would be able to handle. The fixprog...

Use of xvfb : X11 cannot allocate additional graphics colors. Consider using colortype="pseudo.cube" or "gray"
Hi, I use R in remote access on a Debian server. I need X11() to create graphical things so I use xvfb-run (Virtual X server environnement) R to allowing X11() capabilities to R. An other technique is to connect in shh -X to execute my R script. With the connection ssh -X, my R script is well executed. BUT when I use Xvfb, some graphics are created but an error occured and stop the script. here the error : " X11 cannot allocate additional graphics colors. Consider using colortype="pseudo.cube"...

Question about ssh-add...
Evenin', I would like to know, why "OpenSSH ssh-add" doesn't support the -p (pipe) option of "Ssh-1.2.X shh-add"? I used it several time within scripts, like ./whisperpassphrase | ssh-add -p Well, I know this is some kind of security by obscurity, but this has been proven to be handy. SSH authentication order on AIX
...ues - even with key-authentication. On AIX however if we use key-authentication it always hits NIS before VAS. IBM is telling us that it is because that's how SSH works and we keep trying to tell them that it doesn't work like that anywhere else - only on AIX. It's my understanding that SHH will authenticate in the order established by the OS and not vice-versa - is this thinking correct? We have workarounds for the issue, but we'd like to have IBM own up to what we perceive as a flaw in their authentication model instead of blaming it on how SSH works. Here is the latest from...

Good morning all, I?m using rsync v3.0.0 on both ends. The source is Fedora Core 4 and the destination is MacOS 10.5.2. I?m trying to sync a file system with roughly 5,000,000 files checking in about 1.2TB. I use the command rsync ?avP ?e shh root@mustang:/filevault . From my MacOS machine and I get the following after about 400GB has been copied: filevault/visionpro/release/4.7.2_fedora-LINUX-g/include/libinc/MySQL.H -> ../../../4.7.2_fedora-LINUX/include/libinc/MySQL.H filevault/visionpro/release/4.7.2_fedora-LINUX-g/include/libin...

TLS Manager
Hello, all. After many pages of googling and testing in the lab, I'm still a bit perplexed about how to implement tls protection for the asterisk manager. manager.conf allows one to specify the cert file but one normally must also specify the private key file. If I simply enter the cert file: sslenable=yes sslbindport=5038 sslbindaddr=172.x.x.8 sslcert=/etc/pki/tls/certs/pbxc.pem ; path

5.4 at last?
Now that it appears that some folks are able to get the 5.4 downloads (and a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all the centos team members who make this possible!) I'm wondering when the updates will begin flowing so that those of us running 5.3 can do "yum upgrade" and enjoy all the benefits too? [PATCH 1/3] Add private key protection information extraction to ssh-keygen
Add private key protection information extraction to shh-keygen using -v option on top of -y option which is already parsing the private key. Technically, the passphrase isn't necessary to do this, but it is the most logical thing to do for me. Adding this to -l option is not appropriate because fingerprinting is using the .pub file when available....

Also, the params: ldap suffix = "dc=techdream,dc=net" ldap user suffix = "ou=Users" ldap machine suffix = "ou=Computers Are, in my opinion "fairly undocumented" and I have not been able to gather more inform...
