estimation of parameters with grofit
...wth values for a vector of individuals measured at different times. Can I understand correctly that the program estimates parameters for the growth model based on a regression(linear or non linear) analysis of the data at time 1 to time 2, then time 2 to time 3, building a curve piecewise? regards, shfets [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

is AIC always 100% in evaluating a model?

That is, having made a lot of models from a data set, then the best two are say 78.2 and 79.3 without and with (a second independent variable respectively) should we say it's better to judge the influence of the 2nd IV as insignificant? regards, -shfets [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

When modeling with negbin from the aod package...
...he estimates returned for all these would be in accordance with the Value listing in the negbin entry in the aod reference pdf, that is, they are objects "of formal class "glimML"", that is they are maximum likelihood estimates. Would someone tell me if I'm correct? regards, shfets

dynamic model strategy
...ferent conditions. I'm a bit familiar with grofit, but also reading about dse and dlm. Following Bolker's Ch. 11 it seems there are many paths open, and I add that with my data, collection of 5 time points(needed for grofit) is a gargantuan task. I'd be grateful for any advice- regards, shfets

dimnames in an array(I'll be grateful if this message will be passed to all list users)
Hello, I'm hoping someone with a wide experience with R may be able to see what the program is trying to tell me. I've got an array: y1=rnorm(41,0.2) y2=rnorm(41,0.2) y3=rbind(y1,y2) data11<-array(0,c(41,2,2)) data11[,1,]=y3 data11[,2,]=y3 rownames(data11)<-rownames(data11, do.NULL = FALSE, prefix = "Obs.") colnames=c("V","R")

stochastic growth models
Hello, It's not easy to express clearly what I have in mind by stochastic growth models. I've been working with a couple of titles -Stochastic Models in Biology, for one, but both date back a decade or more. I'll try to illustrate the model a little more. A reasonably comparable situation is Bolker's analysis of how many flowers are created on a given plant among a patch of
