Why does domU Windows have to be re-registered after Xen 3.1.0 dom0 upgrade
Hi all,
Just wondering if anybody knows the answer to this mystery?
I upgraded my Dom0 from Xen 3.0.4 + kernel 2.6.16.33-xen to Xen 3.1.0 +
kernel 2.6.18-xen.
After the upgrade, my domU (WInXP home edition) popped up a message saying
that it needed to be re-registered with Microsoft, owing to significant
changes in the hardware environment on which it is running. Something about

Recommendations for Dom0 3D graphics card
Hi Folks,
Can anybody advise me which if any 3D (GLX) graphics card works well in 3D
mode under a Xen dom0 kernel? My current hardware [Nvidia GEForce 7300LE]
requires an Nvidia-supplied driver for GLX that appears to be incompatible
with a xen-compatible linux kernel (at least 2.6.18-xen built from the
xen-3.1.0 source tarball).
My requirements are:
- Must be 3D/GLX compatible so I can run

When will xen-compatibilty be standard in Linux kernels?
Hi Folks,
I thought I''d heard several months back that Xen compatibility patches were
going to be rolled into the mainstream linux kernel source trees, so that in
future Xen would be just another architecture one could select under make
config -- not requiring a special, patched kernel.
But this doesn''t seem to be the case yet. Did I misunderstand what the
plans were, or is it

Success: HVM (VT) works on Core2duo with Intel P965 chip set!
Success story:
I''m now successfully running WinXP Home Edition as DomU under XEN, with
Gentoo Linux dom0. Xen and Linux kernel souce code installed from Gentoo
emerge sources (not from the xensource tarball).
Hardware: HP Pavilion model d4600y, Core2 Duo CPU, Intel P965 chip set.
(Despite predictions elsewhere on this mailing list, the P965 _does_ seem to
work just fine for VT.

domU with no fstate lags in "xm list"
Hi all,
Anybody know what it means for a DomU to show up in the "xm list" as follows:
Name ID Mem VCPUs State Time(s)
Domain-0 0 256 2 r----- 43929.3
Clonezilla 16 512 1 ------ 6.2
The domU "Clonezilla" does not have an "r" state

Kernel Panic, no init found, after upgrading Xen & Kernel
Hi Folks,
I just tried to upgrade my X86 Xen system from Xen 3.0.4 + Dom0=kernel
2.6.16.33 to Xen 3.1.0 + Dom0=kernel 2.6.18.
I have to build the kernel from source. I use initrd, and have my root
directory under LVM.
The system is Gentoo, running on an Core2-duo HP box.
I installed xen 3.1.0 from the tarball, and followed the instructions from
the README file. The only place I deviated from

How to look at (XEN) initialization messages
Newbie question, but I can''t find the answer anywhere:
I need to look at the (XEN).... messages that scroll by like lightning.
Way too fast for a human to read them.
I can''t pause them (No respond to ctrl-S or Scrl-Lock).
I can''t redirect them to serial (My computer has no serial port).
I can''t send them to disk. (No way I know of. Seems unlikely, anyway,

Where did the Xen source tarballs go?
Hi,
Where''s the master repository for downloading open source Xen source
tarballs?
In the past, I''ve always just gone to the xensource web page, clicked on
download, and then followed the "Open Source Xen" link. However, this link
seems to no longer be there.
I found a Univ of Cambridge download page (
http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/research/srg/netos/xen/downloads.html).

Getting network working in HVM domU
Hi all,
I now have Xen running on Intel Core2 duo system, and am running a HVM domU
with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, cold-installed from distribution CD.
Problem is, Windows can''t get to the network.
My dom0 ifconfig looks correct, as far as I can tell. I have a DHCP server
on my local network, but the Windows XP domU claims to be unable to find
DHCP. I''ve also tried
