.Net 4 through WINE??
Specifically, I'm trying to find out if anyone is able to install or use applications that require dotnet 4. There is a econometrics package called SHAZAM 11 that I'd like to be able to install. If anyone has a clue for me, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

beta regression in R
...er, I'm having a problem with beta
regression. The parameterization of beta regression that I am using solves
for the second distributional parameter in terms of the first and xbeta.
Therefore, there is only a single distribution parameter. This
parameterization works fine in STATA, LIMDEP, and SHAZAM. However, the
results returned by optim in R are not reasonable in terms of the value of
the log likelihood and parameter estimates.
Here is my code. Does anyone see a problem with what I'm doing here? Any
advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Asterisk-Driven Linux Distro
...ering if anyone already thought about or is working on something
like a dried-out-asterisk-driven Linux distro.
If so, please let me know if you need some help... otherwise let me know if
it would be of some interest so I could start working on it.
Something more like someone just pop-in a CD and SHAZAM !!!! Asterisk box
running after just a few questions...
I was also thinking about how would it be to have the minimal OS related
stuff possible so it would require less machine to run it on a production
environment and consequentially have less $$$ involved.
Just let me know how relevant would it...

Need advice about models with ordinal input variables
...ackage "acepack" I found avas, which works like a "rubber
ruler" and recodes variables in order to make relationships as linear
and homoskedastic as possible. I've never seen this used in the social
science literature. It works like magic. Take an ugly scatterplot and
shazam, out come transformed variables that have a beautiful plot. But
what do you make of these things? There is so much going on in these
transformations that interpretation of the results is very difficult.
You can't say "a one unit increase in x causes a b increase in y".
