exop vs md5
WHat is the significance to Samba of pam_password exop vs pam_password md5 in ldap.conf? The reason I ask is that, wherever possible, I prefer to use the vendor supplied tools for manipulating config files. With Fedora 3 it's system-config-authentication and it doesn't give you the option of exop. You either enable MD5, which puts pam_password md5 in ldap.conf, or disable it, which puts

file ownership
Hello, I'm pleased to become a list member. Excuse me! I need your help. My problem is that: We have a Samba server running on Linux, this is a PDC in our LAN. There is a share in the server with full access for any user (that's the idea), but when a user writtes a file in the share, he/she becomes the new file owner, and the write permission is exclusively for him/her, consequently

want to access a Windows Share from a Red Hat 8 linux box
...x I have a domain and both servers are members of the domain. I want to access a windows share from the Red hat 8 server? Do I use mount or smbmount? I have been trying to use smbmount with the username option. However, it keeps denying me access. Here is what i type: smbmount //windows_server/shared_folder /linux_local_folder username=davidj After it asks for password, it rejects me with ErrMsg. Trouble getting public folders working
...rol the permissions. Right now all users can move mail and remove mail from the shared folders. I want people (except a few specific users) to be read only on this public folders. 3. Need to know if i'm creating the folders correctly. Right now i'm under my shared folder directory creating shared_folder and 3 subfolders beneath it (cur, new and tmp). After this it shows up in eg. roundcube and i can subscribe to it. I have read all the documentation and tried all the solutions i can. Mostly moving the index and/or config files to seperate dirs and from my understanding that should give each user...

...suggest take a look at the example smb.conf. Here you find a default setup. A users homedreictroy is setup using the [homes] section. If you mean create share folder that should be user for shareing files by different peoples then it's no. Just name the share to whatever you like example '[shared_folder]' which will create this folder. Everybody can access this folder depending on the access settings Ries > > All help is appreciated. > > Cheers, > -- > ------------------------------- > Tony Ricker > Technology Coordinator > SLUCare - P.M.O. > St. Louis Univers...
