Yesterday I was using one of the cheap Radio Shack phone polarity on various phone outlets in my house and ended up plugging it into my IAXY. Caller*ID used to work as some point, but I can't seem to get it going these days. The card is a x101p. I've tried going up and down the rxgain scale. Can the txgain effect it at all? I've got a boom box style radio plugged in with a patch cable (Our radio shack only had a mono cable). I'm getting a volume off of the stream, but it is a very low volume. I haven't seen much activity on the list concerning Digium's IAXy standalone FXS device. Are they worth $100 ? Do they integrate well with * as an extension's FXS ?

This does sound like a grounding problem. My (limited) understanding is that when you have 2 audio components plugged in to different outlets, there can be a voltage differential between the ground on the 2 devices, which will create an electrical flow between the 2 components, which is the source of the hum. I have had this problem before and solved with a ground loop isolator, (from Radio Shack)
