Recording Calls at the phone
I work for a call center and we are looking at using asterisk to have
our operators take calls. Our message taking software records all the
calls on the operators computers. Right now we use these recording
controls from radio shack that plug in between the wall jack and the
phone and plug in via a 1/8 inch stereo connector to the mic input on
the computer. If I buy an IP phone I can't do

IAXy power source from Radio Shack
Anyone using this 110-220v 9v 1500ma supply? If so, which DC plug
adapter does the IAXy need?
A friend brought the wall wart over here for me but she said you get
one plug free and she didn't know which one it took. Does anyone here
know?

OT: Measure 2U Server Amp Usage
Hi,
Running a bunch of CentOS servers on 2U supermicro equipment, usually with
8 drives on Adaptec SmartRAID V or LSI Megaraid.
In designing a rack in a data center, the question arises as to how to
measure the amperage the server uses, prior to investing in power drops
that actually do that for you, even remotely, for about $260.00-300USD per
unit. This number is the important one these days

Getting something into centosplus for 5.2?
I've got a USB to serial adapter that I picked up from Radio Shack
earlier this year. The updated pl2303 driver is already in the
mainstream kernel as per
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=429652 but I'm not getting
much traction from Red Hat as far as them updating the kernel. So every
time there's an updated kernel, I have to rebuild the srpm.
I figure that this is the

IAXY Polarity
Yesterday I was using one of the cheap Radio Shack phone polarity on various
phone outlets in my house and ended up plugging it into my IAXY. While the
regular phone jacks tested OK, the IAXY tested as being reverse polarity.
The tester was plugged directly into the IAXY so there is no chance of this
being caused by crossed wires.
Is this something that is misconfigured on the IAXY, a hardware

dahdi fax catch-22
I've got a Digium Wildcard TDM410P with one POTS line and three
extensions. One of the extensions is connected to a fax modem. This kind
of works, but there's a gotcha. If I set faxdetect=incoming in
chan_dahdi.conf, then incoming faxes do get routed to the modem and this
all works, but outbound faxes fail, with a message like this:

A couple of gamepad-related issues
Hi there! I'm a big fan of the wine project, as it's helped me since day one with making my transition into linux a much more smooth and enjoyable process. I still use it even now to run many of the apps I need for school, and (of course) for gaming. It seems that with every release more and more tiny problems get ironed out, and it's wonderful to be a part of that process. One thing

dreaded Caller*ID failed checksum
Caller*ID used to work as some point, but I can't seem to get it going
these days. The card is a x101p. I've tried going up and down the
rxgain scale. Can the txgain effect it at all? When I plug in a phone
into the line with a splitter it can decode caller id with no problems.
Reading through the mailing list archives hasn't given me any
move clues. Any ideas?

Visual ring notification
I have put a pbx into a resort with Polyycom phones, everythign works
great, except the kitchen staff cannot hear the phone ring. I know many
legacy systems employ a big red flashing light, any ideas on doing
something similar?

using asterisk on a shared line
Can Asterisk be configured to hang up if another phone picks up?
I'm a bit lost as far as terminology goes, but here's my setup. At
home, I have asterisk answering calls from the pstn and sending them
through to a sip extension or voicemail. All that is working fine.
The box running Asterisk isn't on 24/7 so I have a secondary phone
connected to the line as well. If Asterisk is

Low volume coming through live stream
I've got a boom box style radio plugged in with a patch cable (Our radio
shack only had a mono cable). I'm getting a volume off of the stream, but
it is a very low volume. I've got the radio turned all the way up. I'm
using setmixer to adjust volumes, but it hasn't changed anything.
I know it's probably just a simple setting, I just don't know what.

Low volume coming through live stream
That was part of it, the other thing I believe was the mono cable, I put a
stereo cable on it and now it's working great. Your howto has been a life
savior in getting this set up.
Thanks,

[OT] WiFi radios
Hi -
Off-topic, but slightly related since it's a device that can listen to
icecast streams. We've just bought one of these devices at home and
it's absolutely great:

Not the first wifi radio ever, I know, but the unit is really
impressive. Good sound quality, and decent interface. And they claim

IAXy playing dead again
It's happened before, cleared up and now it happened again.
The IAXy, working for a total of about 6 months.
Symptoms:
Registered with asterisk and even receives calls (the LED shows it's
ringing) but phones connected to it are dead.
Same phones work connected directly to the phone line.
Cable swapped out, no difference.
Endless re-provision (with normal looking output) and power

IAXy - anyone using them yet?
I haven't seen much activity on the list concerning Digium's IAXy standalone
FXS device. Are they worth $100 ? Do they integrate well with * as an
extension's FXS ?

stream sounds like poo for no apparent reason
This does sound like a grounding problem. My (limited) understanding is that when you have 2 audio components plugged in to different outlets, there can be a voltage differential between the ground on the 2 devices, which will create an electrical flow between the 2 components, which is the source of the hum. I have had this problem before and solved with a ground loop isolator, (from Radio Shack)
