Sgeostat module
Dear Users, I use Sgeostat to calculate co variogram (function est.variogram with two variables). If i inverse the 2 variables in the functions, the co variogram change! Normaly it is symmetric, isn't it? Someone could me explain why, or give me an idea to calculate co variogram in a easy way... Thanks in advance Laurent ps : sorry for my english Laurent William Dubroca Centre de

Trying to install them 'manually' with R CMD INSTALL, I got the following errors. 1) for splancs: Tue<15:26>library[82]#R CMD INSTALL splancs_2.01-5.tar.gz Installing *source* package `splancs' ... libs f95 -PIC -xO5 -dalign -xlic_lib=sunperf -c

Memory problems using Krige (sgeostat)
I?m trying to make an estimation of sea-depth for 2000 animal locations using 2 million depth soundings. The result was: Cannot allocate vector of size 20351 Kb I've tried to overcome this problem by making the following adaptations. -Increased the max-mem-size to 1.5Gb (Thanks to Thomas Lumley for his help) -Use a max.dist (10km) for the function Krige -Run the Krige computation for each

Finding convex hull?
Dear UseRs, I would like to know which function is the most efficient in finding convex hull of points in 3(or 2)-dimensional case? Functions for finding convex hull is the following: convex.hull (tripack), chull (grDevices), in.chull (sgeostat), convhulln (geometry), convexhull.xy (spatstat), calcConvexHull (PBSmapping). I also would like to know if there is a function that can be used

krige and polygon limit problem
Dear all, I'm new on R and this mailing list. We work on spatial rainfall estimation with R and Grass. We have a problem with the krige function from the sgeostat package. We would like to limit the estimated area with a polygon limit. I use a 50 points polygon to describe my work area. The krige function work quiet well without limit. But if I use this option I have the following error

from long/lat to UTM
Hi: Is there any function in R which can convert the long/lat to UTM(Universal Transverse Mercator)? There are quite a few converters on Internet. However, the interface is designed as input->output which I can not convert lots of locations at the same time. Another question is whether there is a function in R which can tell the time zone from the location's lat/long? Thank you!

kriging in R
Hi, all, Have anyone used kringing included in R? How is it? Does it handle anisotropy data well? How does it compare with Kriging in Arc/Info? or other geostatistics software customized to do kriging or other geostatistics functions? I tried Easykriging, a geostatistics tool developed for Matlab. It has very nice GUI, but it does not provide library which i can call in my programs. so it is

read.spss {foreign} doesn't work over network?
I'm unable to open an SPSS file over my network. If I copy it to my local C:/ drive I can read it. I saved the command (in a "crib sheet" text file) in order to avoid all the typing, so I'm pretty sure I've done it before. I verified that the file I'm trying to read is OK. Covariace or variogram surface
Hi I'm interested in doing a anisotropy analysis of some spatial data and I want to do a contour plot of a covariance or variogram surface to visualize the directions of maximal and minimal anisotropy. I know how to do a contour plot :-) but how can I obtain the variogram surface having a geoeas format dataset (X, Y, Z) ? Thanks EJ
