SEXPTYPEs
..."temp" should be a vector of length > 32-bit, and "p_temp" should be the pointer to that vector. If declaring: long long int *p_temp; (but the compiler throws a warning with an incompatible pointer type, because pointers should be integers of course). I've looked at all SEXPTYPEs in the R internals, and the only one specific to integer vectors is INTSXP. Can this be used for vectors of length larger than 32-bit? R_NilValue and segfault.
Hello. I've been trying to wrap up the R_NilValue into OCaml-R. I nevertheless get a segfault. As I gathered, R_NilValue is declared in Rinternals.h: > /* Special Values */ > LibExtern SEXP R_NilValue; /* The nil object */ > LibExtern SEXP R_UnboundValue; /* Unbound marker */ > LibExtern SEXP R_MissingArg; /* Missing argument marker */ So, in my r_data.c

saveRDS()/readRDS() on environments
Dear r-devel, I was surprised to see that saveRDS() and readRDS() work quite well with environments, see below: ``` z <- 3 # in global env y <- new.env() y$a <- 1 x <- new.env(parent = y) x$b <- 2 saveRDS(x, "x.RDS") # in a new session x <- readRDS("x.RDS") y <- parent.env(x) x$b #> [1] 2 y$a #> [1] 1 parent.env(y) #> <environment:

shared mem advice
Hi, I want to write a package where I would use shared memory for some vectors Any suggestion is appreciated... I wonder if the right approach would be to modify add a modified version of the allocVector(SEXPTYPE type, int length) function specifically shared_mem_id = shmget(shared_mem_key, SHM_SIZE, IPC_CREAT);

what are labels in struct sxpinfo_struct from Rinternals.h mean?
Dear Rdevelers, ? ? ?The following struct is in the Rinternals.h. I want to know ?the meanings of labels or names like "gp,mark,obj,named,trace....." . TKS! struct sxpinfo_struct { ? ? SEXPTYPE type ? ? ?: ?5;/* ==> (FUNSXP == 99) %% 2^5 == 3 == CLOSXP ? ? * -> warning: `type' is narrower than values ? ? * ? ? ? ? ? ? ?of its type ? ? * when SEXPTYPE was an enum

OCaml-R and xts works!
Hi. I've managed to make a *very* simple wrapper around the xts library for R into OCaml. (Need to be downloaded from CRAN for OCaml users, but I expect other wrapping to be fairly similar...). The good, good, good thing (from my humble point of view) is that all loading is done statically: Loading the R interpreter is done statically. Loading the xts library is done statically... etc...

External pointers and changing SEXPTYPE
Dear Developers, I've been struggling through writing R extension in C. I've been using an external pointer to store my data (please see sample below). I encountered a very weird erroneous behaviour: when I tried to use my external pointer to a structure holding several types of data, including SEXPs, I discovered that SEXPs change their types between returning from initialization

anyNA() performance on vectors of POSIXct
Inside of the anyNA() function, it will use the legacy any(is.na()) code if x is an OBJECT(). If x is a vector of POSIXct, it will be an OBJECT(), but it is also TYPEOF(x) == REALSXP. Therefore, it will skip the faster ITERATE_BY_REGION, which is typically 5x faster in my testing. Is the OBJECT() condition really necessary, or could it be moved after the switch() for the individual TYPEOF(x)

R_alloc with more than 2GB (PR#7721)
Full_Name: Wolfgang Huber Version: R-devel_2005-03-10 OS: alphaev68-dec-osf4.0f Submission from: (NULL) (62.253.128.15) This report concerns allocation of large (>2^31 byte) chunks of memory with R_alloc. I suspect it is a bug/typo but please don't hate me if it's actually a feature: In R, I can happily create large matrices: > a= matrix(0, nrow=191481, ncol=3063) > dim(a) [1]

maximum matrix size
I am now getting the occasional complaint about survival routines that are not able to handle big data.?? I looked in the manuals to try and update my understanding of max vector size, max matrix, max data set, etc; but it is either not there or I missed it (the latter more likely).?? Is it still .Machine$integer.max for everything??? Will that change??? Found where? I am going to need to go

as.name() is not idempotent (PR#337)
as.name(as.name("ss")) gives an error in R (0.90 and earlier) but should of course give the same as simply as.name("ss") This reminds me of similar bug/problem... which I don't recall. Yes, I should build tests like these into "make test-Specific" .. Martin --please do not edit the information below-- Version: platform = sparc-sun-solaris2.5.1 arch =

SAS transport files and the foreign package
Even though the FDA has no policies at all that limit our choices of statistical software, there is one defacto standard in place: reliance of the SAS transport file format for data submission (even though this format is deficient for this purpose, e.g., it does not even document value labels or units of measurement in a self-contained way). Because of the widespread use of SAS transport files in

Converting SEXP to primitive C types
I'm new to R development, so this may be a trivial question. In C, How do you convert a SEXP value returned by an R function to a primitive C type (int, double, char, array, etc.)? I've tried using the INTEGER(x), VECTOR_ELT(x,i), and similar functions found in /src/ include/Rinternals.h, but doing so results in incorrect results or a seg-fault. For example, I modified

(PR#8017) build of REventLoop package crashes with 2.1 due
In what way is this a bug in R? It looks like a bug in the package, and as Defn.h is not part of R's API any packge using it is `at risk' (and cannot be installed in a binary-only installation, or even an installed version of R). In particular, Defn,.h depends on config.h, and it seems you installed a binary version of R and used separate sources. I would suggest building R from

hdf5 package segfault when processing large data
Hi there, I am currently working on something that uses hdf5 library. I think hdf5 is a great data format, I've used it somewhat extensively in python via PyTables. I was looking for something similar to that in R. The closest I can get is this library: hdf5. While it does not work the same way as PyTables did, but it's good enough to let them exchange data via hdf5 file. There is just 1

Have you ever experienced this problem with REAL in a C code
Dear all, I'm currently experiencing big troubles with my C code called by .Call in a R function. I know this may not be the right place for such things but these errors are driving me crazy. And I hope other people may have already experienced these problems so that they could give me good suggestions. Sorry if I'm completely out of topic. Well let's go... I'm writing a
