exec scripts question

preexec = mkdir /samba/users/%U
do exec scripts only work in a Samba PDC setup or are we able to use exec
scripts in any setup ?
if you look at the preexec script above, all i'm trying to do is make a dir
for the connecting user (i don't need to make an account as the samba server
is seup as a domain member server to a NT4 PDC, i'm using winbind for
accounts)
why wouldn't the script work ?
it's to simple for it not to....

when i do

i see all the users in a domain with + symbol between workgroup name &
user name
But after this when somebody tries to log's into samba server using Win
NT/2000/98
They get access denied
i have seup /*/etc/pam.d/system-suth, /etc/pam.d/login /etc/pam.d/samba
*/with winbind
What i have to do to fix this problem...

HTB: is root a class really necessary?
...this setup of filters i reduce the number of tc commands to be
given in order to create the filter
i ask this, because in all the examples i saw, all scripts use a root
class, between the root qdisc and the other classes.
also i saw that many examples atach filters directly to the root qdisc.
my seup seems to be running well, but i want to know if using a root
class, or filters of the same prio will improve my setup.

After upgrade people can no longer connect

I''ve been using Shorewall for years without problems. My previous version of
shorewall was 1.4.6b-1. Everything worked just fine. Today I upgraded using
rpm to 2.0.8-1. After update no one can connect to any interface from net.
Server can connect to outside world fine and those described in routestopped
have no problem connecting. Any help correcting this problem would be
