Patch for chain.c32: Set default boot drive to CD drive from which ISOLINUX is booted
chain.c32 of SYSLINUX 3.82 does set the boot drive passed to the DL register to 0x80 and not to the boot drive (CD-drive).
This can be a problem if you want to chainload grldr (grub4dos bootloader) from a CD and if you want to let grldr search for its menu.lst file on the CD.

Incompatibility using pxelinux 3.80 or later and setupldr.exe from windows XP 32 bits
Hello
I'm working on my RIS server; I got a problem when I use pxelinux.0 to
load setupldr.exe from windows XP 32bits (both home and corporate)
Here is how I configure a working server, then how to modify it to
reproduce the bug:
=========================
I suppose you got
-a dhcp server configured to load pxelinux.0 to client computer.
-a working tftp server (mine is tftpd-hpa, with a...

Incompatibility using pxelinux 3.81 or later and setupldr.exe from windows XP 32 bits
I did 2 zip files containing each:
- a working tftp-root with syslinux 3.75
- a not working tftp-root wit syslinux 3.81
They have ben build and tested using the instructions given in my first
message.
The bug appears starting syslinux 3.81, NOT 3.80 (I tried too many versions)
The zip files are available here:

NTLDR Under ISOLINUX
...ule isn't operable under ISOLINUX ? The reason for my question
is that I like the SYSLINUX suite over the alternatives, that is
GRUB and BCDW, however these pkgs all can chainload (just about
anything) from an ISO. That is, they can handle .BSS files and
the various NT/XP boot files, like SETUPLDR.BIN, etc.
I make/update quite a few special purpose boot discs during the course
of a month and it would be a big help to have a single tool (SYSLINUX)
for every project. It's my hope that the design issue(s) in question
isn't/arent' a major obstacle to this suggestion. I know I p...

PXE booting BartPE ISO file to Eee Pc
...r. Here's what my setup looks like:
pebuilder.iso - the ISO file created from BartPE using WinXP SP2 CD as
source but with ramdisk.sys and ramdisk.inf replaced (sys file in
i386\System32\Drivers inf in i386\INF) from an extracted Server 2003 SP1
download (used 7zip to extract)
I've copied setupldr.exe into the root of my TFTP server and renamed it
ntldr. I also put startrom.com in there (renamed startrom.bs), ntdetect.com,
and winnt.sif.
My winnt.sif file:

help
Hello Sir,
(1) I have prepared Bootable CD using " bcdw201a"
http://www.bcdwb.de/downloads_e.html
which is working O.K.
I have tried hard to boot the same off "USB" using "Syslinux" but NOT
successful.
Every time I get the following error messages or similar to them. (i)Could
not find kernel image: linux or (ii)missing parameters in "syslinux.cfg".

isolinux + windows installation CD
...e I type my
boot option, then a single "." symbol, then isolinux tries to run
again and complains about a bad checksum - I assume the bin file
booted part way and left the memory in a bad state.
My assumption was that the boot sector I load would do something
sensible like go looking for setupldr.bin or ntldr or something.
Instead it just hangs there.
Also, why can't I make my own boot sector using "dd"? Is it in a
different place in each ISO image? Or is the El Torito boot sector
from a Win XP ISO not really something I should be using to do this?
Help! I'm drowning!

Chainload isohybrid image from extlinux
...I have found no way to chainload this isohybrid image from extlinux. There is a way to do that?
In the Syslinux Wiki about chain.c32 module, one can read the following text:
"chain.c32 is a COM32 module for Syslinux. It can chainload MBRs,
partition boot sectors, Windows bootloaders (ntldr, setupldr.bin and
bootmgr), MS-DOS and PC-DOS io.sys, Freedos kernel.sys, isolinux.bin
(only from ISOLINUX) [...]", so the answer is no?
Thanks.

Hey list,
I have an older 2005 Uniwill 259ia3 with a Phoenix bios.

FreeBSD tftp client with the same results. When PXE booting a pc and
letting it download the ISO it either hangs halfway through or the ISO
appears to be corrupted when trying to boot to it from ramdisk. I am
looking for suggestions on how to
