Problems with Internal DNS Samba 4
...n't add a new DC to the domain. I believe the problem is with Samba Internal DNS. So I would like to convert my DNS from Internal DNS to Bind9_DLZ of the production DC's. Then I will join a new DC to the domain to see if it works. I checked the tutorials: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_BIND_DNS_Server https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Changing_the_DNS_Back_End_of_a_Samba_AD_DC But I found it a little complicated. I'm in doubt if I have to configure all DNS zones manually (servers, networks, ptr, records, A records, CNAMES and others) as a simple Bind or if automatically configures it when...

Internal DNS migrate to Bind9_DLZ
Hello, I hope that someone can perhaps assist me or just guide me in the right direction. I've been following all the steps for setting up and migrating my Samba Internal DNS to Bind9_DLZ. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_BIND_DNS_Server https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/BIND9_DLZ_DNS_Back_End But this doesn't seem to work for me, I can get bind started up 100% when I remove include "/var/lib/samba/bind-dns/named.conf" from named.conf, but as soon as I add this line back then everything fails with below error. 30-J...

Hai, As Rowland said also, your config looks better the we often see.. :-) I can only see one thing thats little off in bind is the auth-nxdomain. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_BIND_DNS_Server Shows auth-nxdomain yes; You ADDC is the Authoritive DNS server for your domains so i suggest turn it on. Centos 7 AD domain provision won't create named.conf
Hi guys. I'm preparing my migration from samab NT4 style to AD. I had follow some papers about, exist 1 step that I still don't if is right or don't. A lot of site show that once we run the command: samba-tool domain provision ... using BIND9_DLZ This step will create a named.conf inside ./private/named.conf I have run a lot of times the command, but won't see this file. Any advice for installing Samba as an AD server on Raspbian Buster with BIND9 and ISC DHCP?
...date them. If I remember right from the last time I set up Samba (a few months ago) some of the folder locations didn't reflect the newer locations that Samba now uses to simplify file premissions for the bind9 user account, but this might be fixed now. (BTW, https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_BIND_DNS_Server refers to this user as both 'bind' and 'named'. I think named is the one I saw bind9 using when installed.) I'll try to note specific things in the wiki that seem out of date or confusing as I proceed and let you know. > > I was hoping there was somethiing more speci...

Samba Migration and AD integration
...with '--dns-backend=BIND9_DLZ' then Samba should have been set up to allow Bind9 to use the DNS info stored in AD. You will also need to remove any zones from the named.conf files that are also in AD. You will find info on to set up Bind9 for Samba AD here: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_BIND_DNS_Server > Also, I assume the bind9 service will have to > stopped if infact we use the Internal DNS? If you do decide to use the Samba internal DNS server, then yes, you will need to stop Bind9. You will also need to remove the 'server services' line from smb.conf on the DC and add a '...

Whichever it is, STOP and read this: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_an_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller and this: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_BIND_DNS_Server Yes, a 'named.conf' is created, but it is NOT the main named.conf, it is one that needs to be included in your main named.conf. Towards the end of the provision command output, you should find a line similar to this: See /var/lib/samba/private/named.conf for an example configuration in...

...tkey-gssapi-keytab "/var/lib/samba/private/dns.keytab"; in named.conf.local: include "/var/lib/samba/bind-dns/named.conf"; Shouldn't the 'private' in the first path be 'bind-dns' ? I would also suggest the OP reads this: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_BIND_DNS_Server#Installing_.26_Configuring_BIND_on_Debian_based_distros Rowland
