multiple smbd/nmbd on one machine
...b/domain/cfg/locking" in the
config, I cannot delete the files/folders, only touch, move and so on...
But that is no solution, because by running 3 times smbd I do need 3
different lock directories...
Oh, btw: This is one entry in log.$machinename

delete file problem with samba
...ct path and file name.
However, if you click on the Okay button on that Windows error dialog and
refresh the IE,
you'll find that in fact the folder and the subfolders under it are all
removed.
On the FreeBSD, this is the error msg from samba,
smbd/trans2.c: set_delete_on_close_over_all(2214)
set_delete_on_close_internal: failed to change delete on close flag for file
thefoldername
Note that this *ONLY* happens when I try to delete the directory from the
tree
on the left frame of IE.
If I try to delete the directory from the right side frame of IE, i.e. the
file listing frame,
it'll be completely fine, no prob...

RCS/delete on close/delete readonly
...in CS-RCS,
you get "permission denied". If you try to delete the file from Windows
Explorer or CMD prompt, you get permission denied (after the "do you
want to delete this read-only file" prompt).
This message is logged in the samba log (if you increase the debug
level):-
set_delete_on_close_internal: file <name> delete on close flag set but
file attribute is readonly.
The guys I am trying to set this up for said that they are sure it used
to work when they had the demo version of the software, since then,
however, I have updated samba from 3.0.7 to 3.0.10 as part of general
updates...

Failed to set delete on close flag
...rectory itself
is still visible in the Explorer (in this case a Windows 2000, SP2
system). Explorer is producing a error message ("Folder has been moved
or delete" (roughly translated into english as the original is a german
message)). Samba is logging the following message to syslog:
set_delete_on_close_internal: failed to change delete on close flag for
file bla/blub/foldername
Pressing "F5" (Refresh) in Explorer deletes the corresponding entry in
the directory tree display.
Server system is a Linux 2.4.17, XFS filesystem, quotas turned on.
Any hints?

strange problem
Hello.
I have a problem that I hope you can help me with.
I have 95,98 and NT machines and a Linux box with samba 2.2.5 (or what ever is
shipped with redhat) that shares a printer to the windows machines.
The problem is now:
-the NT machines finds the printer!
-the 98 machine finds something, but rejects all passwords (it runs encryot.
passwd)
-the 95 does not find anything at all. (runs encrypt
