Ping an external server through a disabled provider.
...a default route to eth1 in the default table.
The problem is, this only works with 1 ISP, as I can''t add 3 default routes.
So what is the best way to manage this ?
Thanks for your attention.

Hello Rowland,
1. We always have been using self compiled samba not the binaries. In
fact, when we started we started on CentOS and then when CentOS became
an upstream edition, we moved to RHEL, but continued with self compiled
samba, never moved to prebuilt binaries.
2. SSSD - We are not using sssd anywhere. We have many Linux Servers but
those are not members of AD domain. Only the web

As expected creating the file "firewall" in /etc/shorewall-lite/ does
not help so if any one can assist fixing it I would be appreciated!:)

Fallback in a multi-isp configuration

I would also like to have fallback between them so that if one is disconnected, all packets can go through the other one.
How can I achieve this?
Thanks.

About rsync over SSH and compression
...lar) one can tinker with settings almost endlessly in either
side, probably being able to end up with specific situations where one or
the other would be advantageous. At first sight, however, the overall
difference seems to be small.

About rsync over SSH and compression
Rsync supports the capability of compressing data before sending. So does
OpenSSH. It would be probably be a waste of resources and time to enable
both compression capabilities at the same time, but it is not clear to me
whether, in general, it makes better sense to enable rsync compression or
SSH compression.
My first thought would be that SSH compression might yield better results,

In the end, I'm trying to ensure a minimum equivalent of 128-bits of
security. Group14 is 2048-bits, which roughly translates to 112-bits. [1]
To this end, I disabled the "diffie-hellman-group14-sha1" and

shorewall-lite
Hi I''m running on a debian box shorewall-4.5.17.
My main gateway is a router running on openwrt and I want to use the
shorewall-lite packet provided by openwrt. The openwrt''s provided
shorewall-lite packet is 4.5.7.
So my questions would be:
1: Do I need to make some modifications before installing
shorewall-core-4.5.7/shorewall-4.5.7 on my debian box?
2: if I have both

Routing on one interface with IP alias
I use since a lot of time a "classical" two-interfaces setup, with the net
interface connected to an ADSL modem in half-bridge mode, which receives a
public IP from the ISP and gives it to the Linux net interface; the lan
interface has the 192.168.30.0/24 class.
Now I need to change this setup, because my new ISP (that will switch soon to
a FTTS VDSL2 connection) sent me a VDSL2

pop3 and dsync master-master replication issue causing duplicate delivery (resolved)
I had opened a thread a while ago in regards to dsync duplicate delivery issues. Here is an update in case anybody else is suffering from this:

We are using an LDAP backend for userdb and passdb lookups and this is causing multiple replication users to be created. Here is the broken setup:

Timing out a channel exec request
Is anyone aware of a method to force termination of a single channel
without waiting for the associated process to complete?
I have a use case where my client submits several commands to be executed
over the same session at the same time on separate channels.
In some cases (cough df), one or more those commands may hang indefinitely.
I detect that the command is not finishing in a reasonable
