Determining Local IP Address within .profile
Hi ! I haven't found an easy solution to determine the local IP to which the remote SSH client is connected to the local SSHD. We use MC/Serviceguard which can create many Interfaces where a remote client could connect and we like to know within .profile which interface the client has connected to. I've looked at the sourcecode and maybe the following could do something I described : session.c:871 RCSID("$OpenBSD: session.c,v 1.142 20...

Two smbd's on same machine
Hi, I am planning to run Samba smbd within an HP MC/ServiceGuard cluster (2 machines, 2 packages). Essentially, this could involve (whilst it's not the usual scenario), having two smbd's running on the same machine, albeit listening on seperate IP addresses. They should not need to access any of the same directories. Is this a problem? Has anyone else o...

Sybase and gfs in a cluster
Is there someone with experience in the following scenario? can it be done? Centos 5 in a two node active-passive scenario both nodes run centos 5 with gfs data is in a SAN Servers are HP DL 380 connected to a MSA 1000 san storage servers will run on top of centos 5, the ServiceGuard software from HP. Is sybase compatible with this structure? I contacted sales support with this question but so far i haven't received a response. I read somewhere that sybase didn't like GFS but i cannot be sure since the original document is no longer available on the web. since this is...

Samba and MC/Service Guard
Samba friends, I work in Wal-Mart's IT department, specifically with Unix Servers of various flavors, but HP-UX is predominant in our Home Office environment. I recently built an two node HA cluster on HP 11.11 boxes. I want to be able to have Samba use the virtual name of my cluster. Currently Samba is configured to use the hardcoded box name, however if the box happens to go down, we

Samba High Availability
We're using Samba, and it's working very well, however I'm interested in finding out what approaches would work for having some sort of redundancies in place in case the main server crashes. Is there anything in place for Samba in order to have some sort of backup in place in case the main server crashes. The reason is that the server is critical to the company's business, and

One (simple) way is to install samba on both nodes and make your clients point to the floating address(es). - Regards, Reinout Wijnveen "All those who believe in psychokinesis raise my hand" ICT-N/Philips Semiconductors Nijmegen Address: AC 0.039, Gerstweg 2, 6534 AE Nijme...

...ason the command smbpasswd -r <NT_PDC> -j <DOMAIN> did not work with our AS/U B.04.06 which acts as a PDC but it did work with our BDC which runs on a NT4 toaster. I copied the <DOMAIN>.<SERVER>.mac and MACHINE.SID in the directory /var/opt/samba/private to the other MC/ServiceGuard cluster node and now it works on both nodes and authenticates either on the PDC (AS/U) or BDC (NT4). I did not use the password server = * option because I don't know what it exactly does when one of our dear informatics students plugs his NT notebook with a PDC in our network. Thanks again....
