Proposed improvements to service_ok()
I've been unhappy for some time with the weak checking
of service self-consistency in .../source/param/loadparm.c's
"service_ok" function.
Here's my initial draft of a better one, in diff format.
Suggestions and criticism welcome!

service_ok, redux.
Ok, this one actually produces the message I intended...
Questions for the community and team:
1) should warnings be at DEBUG(2, and notices at 3?
2) should errors like "path points to non-dir"
cause a fatal error as well as an error message?
3) should the share names be in []s in the messages?

3.0.3 upgrade comments
Hello Samba gurus.
I've just finished an upgrade from 2.2.8a to 3.0.3 on my old pc file
server. Many years ago it used to be a RH 6.2 machine but most packages
(including Samba) have now been built from source.
I have a couple of observations that might be worth including in the
documentation/man pages to help other users:
The swat man page instructions for editing /etc/inetd.conf refer

Bad file modification date/time stamps created from windows clients
I'm running samba server version 3.0.28a on an HP-UX pa-risc machine
with XP-pro windows clients.
When a windows client creates a new file on the samba share the
modification time is not set correctly.
On the HP-UX side date/time stamp shows as:
% ls -l README
-rwxr--r-- 1 e6b564 users 1081 Dec 13 1901 README
The date/time stamp is always "Dec 13 1901" ?

winbind problem
Dear all,
I'm trying to make winbindd working without much success.
I would like to set my linux box as a samba PDC and as winbindd host with
some win2k workstations.
I'm using mdk 8.1 and have installed the corresponding rpms (samba-2.2.2-6
by cooker).
I followed howto and samba doc to set the pdc and it works.
Following winbindd doc I have to used "smbpasswd -L -j IUTINFO -U
