Hi Everyone,
We have a Samba 3.0.20b server running in a multi-user environment.
There is a "serveruser" username that does batch processing on the files
using VB.NET code.
There are many other regular users: "user1", "user2", etc...
They are all part of the "users" group
If "user1" opens up a file in Excel, it changes the ownership on the
file and permi...

valid-users still not work in 3.0.23a
Hello,
i was using the debian version of samba 3.0.14a. Everything works fine. Then I upgraded to 3.0.23 because of Windows Visa support. After that upgrade shares with "valid users" could not be accessed. So I waited for 3.0.23a and upgraded to this version. The problem still exists. The following message is in the log: User andi not in 'valid users'.

suddenly unable to mount shares with hostname
Hello all,
my name is Andreas and today I have run into a problem which I am not
able to fix by myself.
In our company we have a samba file server (Version 4.3.11-Ubuntu) which
till doday did work without any problems. Unfortunately this is not the
case anymore. Since today we are no longer able to mount network shares
on this serverusing the servers dns hostname. The server complains about

I would guess that it is some kind of Kerberos issue since mounting by
IP does
not use Kerberos authentication
