roaming and local profiles on same domain
I have samba 3 configured and running fine as a PDC with LDAP as the
back end user database. I have most users using roaming profiles but
there are a few I would like to be able to only have local profiles.
Is it possible to configure samba to use both types of profile rather
than one or the other. I have the profile path set on each user
account in LDAP as the field

"NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE"
Hi everyone,
I'm using the online HOWTO manual in the "Quick Start" reference to try and
get a basic domain controller going. So I set up smb.conf, and testparm
checked out okay, I've started nmbd and smbd, but when I try to to run
[root@localhost samba]#smbclient -L <username> -U<username>%<password>
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE <-- I get

Samba/LDAP PDC and member servers
...hare and its parent directory and I
have tried valid users, read list and write list with @"Group" and
+"NTDomain\groupname" with no success. The only member server I can
access shares on is one that has the same SID for local and machine
although users and groups show up as SERVERNETBIOSNAME\group.
It states in the documentation that each member server has different
domain and machine SIDs but does that include the PDC. Given that the
PDC itself has to be joined to the NT Domain with net rpc join I suspect
that's the case but I haven't found anything confirming it. Can an...

smbmount deprecated - what about Windows 9x?
Hallo,
I've just installed Kernel 2.6.25.2 - works fine.
But now when I use "smbmount" for mounting shares from my Win9x clients
the system (kernel) tells me
smbfs is deprecated and will be removed from the 2.6.27 kernel. Please
migrate to cifs.
But at least Win9x seems not to like cifs. Mounting via smbfs works
since years, mounting (with the same options) via cifs

Samba, Clearcase, and multiple credentials
This falls under the 'getting clearcase to work with samba'
category.
Does anybody know if the clearcase albd server actually uses
samba to access files (or anything else) on the unix side?
I am having 'discussions' with rational (the clearcase people).
The nt user running clearcase to access some unix-side views
connects to the unix side using a set of credentials that have
