File copy operation blocks on Samba share
Hello,
I am running a server with cifs-utils 6.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 trusty with a CIFS
mount as follows:
//server/share /mnt/Share cifs
rw,relatime,vers=1.0,cache=strict,username=myuser,domain=EXAMPLE,uid=0,noforceuid,gid=0,noforcegid,addr=192.168.0.8,unix,posixpaths,serverino,acl,rsize=1048576,wsize=65536,actimeo=1

I am using perl's File::Copy function to copy several hundred files from the
share to the local ext4 filesystem:
cp($src, $dst, 32128);
This works fine for almost all of the files, however the perl script always
blocks in uninterruptable sleep on on...

32 seconds vs 72 minutes -- expected performance difference?
...owing a LOT of options that I did not specify. I do
not fully understand their impact:
//[REDACTED]/uploaded_files on /home/myuser/shared type cifs
(rw,relatime,vers=3.0,cache=strict,username=vl,domain=,uid=1000,forceuid,gid=1000,forcegid,addr=95.216.67.179,file_mode=0755,dir_mode=0755,soft,nounix,serverino,mapposix,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,echo_interval=60,actimeo=1)
Namely: forceuid, forcegid, nouinx, serverino, & mapposix
Could any of these be causing the problems that I'm observing?
PS: vers=3.0 didn't fix the problem!

Symbolic links not visible on osx 10.10
...reated as real links
I noticed the mount output shows `nounix` when connecting with 2.1 and 3.0:
//ip.addr/Programs on /mnt/tmp type cifs
(rw,relatime,vers=3.0,sec=ntlmssp,cache=strict,username=markus,domain=OFFICE,uid=0,noforceuid,gid=0,noforcegid,addr=ip.addr,file_mode=0755,dir_mode=0755,nounix,serverino,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,actimeo=1,user=markus)
This is done automatically, I have no idea how to remove it. (-o unix,
-o nounix=0 give an error)
So not only happening on osx client ... :-(
Is this maybe per protocol? Samba protocol 2.1 and 3.0 not being able to
use *real* symbolic links?

I suspect it is because unix extensions are off (there is always
"nounix" written in the mount output).
I tried the config option "unix extensions = yes" explicitly (should be
the default), but no change unfortunately.

Note that some of this option string is generated at runtime by the
kernel, so what you see is the current running state, which might differ
from what you provided as some options are deduced/tried during connection.
