[samba pdc] serverbased profiles doesnt load at winxp login
ive installed samba 3 on a debian 4, the samba server should act like a pdc. at the moment it work that user can login on my clients (all windows xp pro sp2), the homedrive is mapped corretly, the only thing that doesn't work, is that the serverbased profile is saved automatically on the server, so that the user can downlad the profile at login. here is my smb.conf: [global] workgroup = lecture server string = %h server netbios name = samba_pdc interfaces = 127.0.0.1, 192.168.10.0/24 h...

some problems with samba 3.0.2rc1
...d got now following problems: LaserJet printers 6MP (sorry, we have no other LaserJet printermodels) now couse the application to crash. With Samba3.0.1 there was no probem with that kind of Printers. I use the RPM's from ftp.sernet.de for SLES8. Printingsystem is CUPS, with raw printing and serverbased printerdrivers. Has anyone an idea how to fix that problem? MfG Stefan

User Profile Migration Solved
...ettings\USER.DOM\'. 7. Log on to each workstation as administrator again, make sure you have access to the temporary location with the previously saved user profiles and now copy all the contents over the fresh profiles which were just created. So you are actually overwriting the local AND the serverbased profiles. 8. Now you can log on as a regular user on each workstation and will find your beloved 'old' settings including all program settings, desktop icons, wallpapers and other more or less useful details. In my case this included settings for MS Office, several Adobe and Autodesk produ...

And I still get these problems in the GPO-management. I translate via googling: "A processing error occurred collecting data using this base domain controller." this one ?

Detail: Es steht nicht gen?gend Speicherplatz auf dem Server zur Verf?gung. Perhaps in english: Saving the serverbased profile failed! Details: Not enough space on device. BUT THERE is enough space!!! I can't figure out, where he tries to save the profile! I thought it would be under \\%N\profiles\%U (like the docu says). Can somebody help me, please?! no profiles add/saved in samba PDC
...ike all perfect (I can login from the Clients). I try to use Samba as PDC for my Windows Clients. The Clients can logon to the PDC and I also can use the netdrives I configured in smb.conf. But I can't use the profiles. On Logon the typical message shows up the client is unable to use/load the serverbased profile and instead it's using a local temporaly profile. On the samba site it shows up the folder in the profiles-folder for the user I logged in but there is no profile-file. I changed all read/write rights so everybody can write and read (wrx) but nothing happen. thanks -------------...

Puppet & Oracle Database config management
Afternoon all. I''ve been reading around on Puppet and Oracle, and have come up with a few links that suggest how to get Oracle installed and base configured, which has got me started in the right direction on that. My next challenge is maintaining Oracle database specific configuration on the relevant hosts. This contains various elements, such as /etc/oratab, /etc/oranfstab (as
