XP error code 1326 on share (but smbclient works)
...----------------------------
I have followed https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_a_Standalone_Server to add a test user to my system and to samba (username demoUser and same password on both).
The linux client test (invoked from the server itself) works:
$ smbclient -U demoUser //SERVER_IP_ADDRESS/demo
Enter demoUser's password:
Domain=[WORKGROUP] OS=[Windows 6.1] Server=[Samba 4.5.10]

I upped 1.0.4 of the script..
I added checks if no DC's are found, error message and exits script,
so no python errors anymore, if i did it right. ;-)
on both DC's do the following.
and whats the output of :
cat /etc/hosts

SETHOSTNAME=`hostname -s`
SERVER_IP_ADRESS=`hostname -i`

Hai Bob.
SETDNSDOMAIN='hostname -d'
needs to be:

SETDNSDOMAIN=`hostname -d`

Too slow to open shares.
More information:
When I try to access the share by "smbclient //server_ip_address/share_name
-d 10" from another Linux box, I saw some errors(warnings?) like
"Doing spnego session setup (blob length=16)
server didn't supply a full spnego negprot"

Cisco 7940 Configuration
Hello all,
I recently purchased a Cisco 7940 IP phone to do some testing with (to
validate a migration to asterisk for our internal PBX needs). I
understand that I need to update the phone for it to support SIP, so I
configured the phone with an IP address and pointed it at my tftp server.
When I reboot the phone I am currently getting "TFTP File Not Found

Samba shares not appearing
Hi,
I'm currently fiddling with Samba, trying to make it work on CentOS 7.
Before that, I ran Samba successfully in a mixed environment with
Slackware64 14.1 on the server and Slackware/Windows Seven on the client
side.
I have three sandbox machines running CentOS 7. One has a minimal
install with only the samba and samba-client packages. Just to be on the
safe side for fiddling,

However when I try the same thing but with the server name instead of the
ip address, I get a long pause and then the error in the subject above.

Hello Niki,
I replicated your settings on a CentOS 7 on a KVM, I did not see the
samba server when I click on "Browse Network", however when I enter
smb://<server_IP_address>/ I was able to see the shares.
If Im not mistaken the 'nmb' service is responsible for browsing,
therefore I stopped it and I was not longer able to see the shares from
a windows or samba client.
What is the output of:
$ smbclient -L <samba_server_host-or-IP> -U <samba_user&g...

Oracle OCI8, or "am I going crazy?"
All of a sudden, on three different systems, the "server_ip_address/sid_name"
syntax in database.yml has stopped working for me.
I can''t even do a OCI8.new(blah blah blah) statement from an IRB shell.
I get "ORA-12541: TNS:no listener", or some variant, depending on how I phrase it.
On systems where I have a real deal client installed, and...

Basic SAMBA configuration help
I've recently installed Samba 2.2.5(from source) on a linux 2.4.19 system
and am having great difficulty configuring it to work with w2k clients. My
inital goal is to have Samba act as a PDC so that I may have logins to the
network and provide basically a single public disk share and a home share
per user. After two and a half days of dismal failures I have tried to
simply get the Samba

Authentication problems with win2k3 domain controller
Hi
I'm having problems with samba-3.0.21b and Windows Server 2003 domain
controllers.
When I try to access the samba server from a client (\\sambasrv) I
only get a login prompt, no username/password combination works.
Accessing the samba server through its IP-number instead of
using the netbios name works.
This together with the log message "Failed to verify incoming ticket!"
