Reverse DNS
...te the DNS record, it is able to update the forward zone but not the reverse zone. The only time it updates both the forward and the reverse is if the machine is setup with a static IP.

Issues with bind9 dlz

We are seeing DNS issues as per below
When using dnsupdate we get the following error. The server can resolve the
hostname(itself)
added interface eth0 ip=192.168.117.10 bcast=192.168.117.255
netmask=255.255.255.0
IPs: ['192.168.117.10']
need cache add: A server5.intdom.group 192.168.117.10
Looking for DNS entry A server5.intdom.group 192.168.117.10 as
server5.intdom.group.

Hi Louis,
Just an update on this. I ran up a new test LXC container and completely removed apparmor. Then install the packages. I got the same errors
I thought I would change the DNS from Bind to internal and back to bind.
The following is going from Bind9 to Internal
root at server5-ad:/var/log# service bind9 stop
root at server5-ad:/var/log# systemctl mask bind9
Created symlink /etc/systemd/system/bind9.service -> /dev/null.
root at server5-ad:/var/log# service samba-ad-dc stop
root at server5-ad:/var/log# samba_upgradedns --dns-backend=SAMBA_INTERNAL

Reverse DNS
Hi Rowland,
Just as a test, I installed the dhcp server in the DC ( in the lab). Then configured the dhcp as per the wiki
This is what I see. And again the forward zone update despite the errors but the reverse doesn't

somewhat OT--windows logon script
Hi Group,
We use a simple logon script to map drives for our users. If we put the
following line:
net use /delete * /yes
then no drives are mapped on the workstations. If we rem it out, the
script works fine.
Full script below:
net use /delete * /yes
net use e: \\server5\peachtree
net use w: \\server5\contract_maintenance
net use t: \\server5\fleet
net use x: \\server5\allusers
net use u: \\server5\field
REM net time \\server5 /set
net use t: \\server5\payroll

nfs4 problem in CENTOS6
Hi,
This is slightly offtopic, but I have been trying to resolve that problem for two days now without much success. It looks like this may be something that works with CENTOS5, but not with CENTOS6!
I have two machines, fileserver1 and server5.
fileserver1 runs on CENTOS6 (virtualized, if this is important), server5 runs on Centos5. Both are running with the most recent updates.
Server5 is a machine to store backups on. Several servers, including fileserver1, are mounted with nfs4 on server5.
fileserver1 has this /etc/fstab:

KIX script

Post the migration, we copied the contents of the /home/samba/netlogon to /var/lib/samba/sysvol/lin.group/scripts. When the users (both standard users and domain admins) login, the login script (KIX32) doesn't execute.
We found the following:
If we browse to the path //server5/netlogon and run KIX32 manually , it works and maps the drive.
If we run //server5/netlogon/KIX32.exe, it doesn't
Using rsat tools , we tried setting the logon script to the following and still doesn't work
