www.centos.org and the wildcard dns
hi guys,
At the moment there is a www.centos.org site. There is also a wildcard
dns setup that directs anything.centos.org to www.centos.org's content
This has a couple of 'issues' with SEO and google sepcifically. The
reason we have such low page rank is that google marks all of this as
duplicate content. I am sure there are other search engines that do as
well ( Bing has a policy of marking down duplicates as well ).
So, what I'd like to propose is to either drop the wildcard dns
completely, o...

Samba wins eWeek and PC Magazine "Innovation in Infrastructure" (i3) award for best Enterprise Software !
Hi all,
I was in Las Vegas yesterday accepting an award from eWeek and
PC Magazine on behalf of Samba for the Innovation in Infrastructure Award
in the "Enterprise Software" catagory !
The award was sepcifically for Samba 2.2.2, and we beat out Sun Microsystems
Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Version 1.4 and Bea Systems WebLogic Server 7.0
for the award, so I'm stunned that we won. These guys have marketing departments
and a *budget* :-) :-).
More details on the finalists are here :

Binary Logit Regression with R
Hi to all,
I am a PH.D Student doing statistical analysis.
I am totally new to R. I previously use Stata and am changing into R. I
ususally do with logit regression with binary dependent variable (war
occurence:1 or 0).
I just want to know command to do that. More sepcifically,
Let say, my Y is war occurence (occur=1, otherwise 0). And my independent
variables (Xs) are trade, democracy, military power....etc.
In Stata, I do like what follows:
logit war trade democracy militarypower...
Then I will get results.
What are the equivalent command in R?
Many th...

panel.abline and xyplot
Dear All,
I am wondering on how to use the abline.xyplot with xyplot such that I will have different vertical lines for each panel. More sepcifically, suppose that the xyplot generates 4 panels defined by the combination of two binary variables: X_1 and X_2. i.e.
xyplot(Y ~ Z | X_1*X_2, data = df)
I want something like:
abline(v = 5) if X_1=0 and X_2 = 0
abline(v = 10) if X_1=0 and X_2 = 1
abline(v = 15) if X_1=1...

A Head Check
...PRI into an Asterisk server w/ a
Digium TE410P card, and deploy SNOM 200 IP phones to the desktops. We will
be using a RedHawk power-injector system to provide power to the phones.
Now.. This is our first deployment of Asterisk, and I need a head

1. Are the SNOM 200 IP phones a good choice for standard users? Or should
I consider Cisco? Price of the phone is not the important thing.. What is
important is ease of use with minimal training and reliability!

using physical disks with HVM
Hi,
As a previous thread in
http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2006-06/msg01111.html
tells, it should be possible tun run hvm domains with a physical disk.
There where other threads about this, but no solution for my current
problem.
When I try to use a disk defined as
disk = [ ''phy:data/faitest-client-generic-hvm-disk,ioemu:hda,w'']
(The device is a lvm

IDMAP question.
...X (using secldapclntd; John T. if you want info on this to add to
your book and the HOWTO collection, I'd love to offer it).
My question is, since the underlying LDAP code in samba chases referrals,
why would IDMAP stand out in any configuration?
It would seem to me (minus the BDC<->PDC sepcific protocols) you
could achieve the same effect using two DCs where one was the Master LDAP
and the other the Replica LDAP. If the master goes down, the backup can
still offer info and would not allow any changes as the attempt would
yield "Unwilling to perform" at the LDAP layer.
The Fast...

then you could make this check optional, or allow to override it.
say your default is to perform the check.
you can add a UserDefinedCustomProperty of "ByPassImageCheck" that can
accept value of 'true'.
then if you want to bypass this check for a sepcific VM, you will set
this custom property for that VM (your hook should have an "if
!ByPassImageCheck" logic in it of course.
(we have other types of hooks for engine side, and uiplugins to embed
things in the gui).
My I ask for the bigger picture of what you are trying to do?

which DNS backend ?
Hi Reindl,
For me there lot of misunderstanding around DNS, especially when it comes
to AD and a bit more when that AD is Samba AD. This thread just shows that
once more time.
I'm relatively new in DNS world and learnt a lot these last months, thanks
to colleagues who are daily DNS admins and who accept to enlighten me a
little bit.
You claim to be a DNS admin and you said Rowland and you

Looking for a guide to collect all e-mail from the ISP mail server
...is an economically better solution. It's not for me to decide anyway.
If you want to do it for fun and learning, setup a private mail server for yourself and maybe some friends. You do not have "fun" with a company's emails, not even a non-profit. ESPECAILLY since you have rather sepcific legal restrictions and requirements on that email.
Doing it yourself is possible IF you already know what you are doing very well. Doing this yourself as a "fun learning experiment" is irresponsible.

Zoning Out
I''m getting my zones confused. Help.
I need to have a bunch of systems using OpenVPN to gain an IP in the
virtual subnet 10.100.1.0/24, on interface tun0.
I will then route whole subnets to those IPs, like 10.100.2.0/24 via
10.100.1.12, etc.
I want to have a policy for:
- all hosts behind tun0
- all hosts in 10.100.1.0/24
- individual subnets being routed through IPs in
