Ajax.Updater -- Cancel DOM write?
Is it possible to cancel the DOM write to the element passed to Ajax.Updater? I didn''t see anything in the documentation, and I''d like to use this instead of Ajax.Request. There are situations where the results that are returned will not be what is expected, and I have no control over this. For this reason, I''d like to be able to cancel writing to the DOM. Thanks in

I need it to know so that it triggers specific events in this case.

migrating to encrypted passwords
I have an old Samba network that uses unencrypted passwords. At the time, the posts were running win95. These days they are running win98 for the most part, but introducing new machines onto the network means fiddling with the EnablePlainTextPassword registry key. So currently, all the machines use plain-text passwords. I want to modify them all to use encrypted passwords. Naturally, I want to do

Aptitude vs. apt
Hi all, I need to write an aptitude provider for Debian. How should it differ from apt? Can I just s/apt/aptitude/g, or do I need to do something else? Any other weird behaviours I should look for or whatever? I''ll make it a subclass of apt (and since Deb seems to specify aptitude as the default now, maybe apt should subclass aptitude), so any dpkg answerfile work should work on

Libvirt supported qemu-ga commands
Where can I find the full list of libvirt supported qemu-ga commands? The docs [0] imply virDomainQemuAgentCommand bypasses libvirt and is not recommended. I am looking to pass suspend/resume events from the host to the guest and then have the guest act on this internally. Your help is appreciated. [0] https://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Qemu_guest_agent

ices & reencoding
hi, when using ices (0.1.0) with options -R -b <bitrate> (lame 3.89beta), and a playlist with a mix of mpeg version 1, 2, 2.5 files, it seems that only version 1 files work fine, the others have problems with the sample rate. is this normal behaviour of ices/lame or do i get something wrong? thanks, uno --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project

Increase the word list in the sentiment analysis
Hi, I'am using the sentient analysis available in "R2.15". Now the challenge that I'am facing is that the Naïve Baye's has an inbuilt list of 6500 words in which it has been trained. So my question that can I increase the number of words on which this algorithm is trained? In case i can increase the list ca...

MIT vs GPL vs LGPL for open source project
I intend to release a project I wrote with Rails. What is the right licensing scheme for a web application (content managing system) which could grow with plugins and add-ons ? Personally, I would prefer the GPL but does that mean any add-on to the CMS (like task management) will have to be GPL ? If some people contribute to the code could it still be double-licenced so that the people who

It might not be ever so clear from what I've written to date, but you should really start seeing that it's things like "pain" and "aging" and "disease" (that we can stop in a split second, and have no need to torture ourselves or any sentient life with) that are really behind the reasons "Earth will never see reality" and that should have been obvious to you the whole time--more than that, it should be obvious that we've certainly got much safer and healthier ways to ensure "life doesn't get destroyed by time and...

Is Samba over an IPSec tunnel possible?
Hello, I have set up an IPSec tunnel to create a VPN. It works well, I can ping and telnet back and forth with no problems. I am, however, struggling to get Samba to work. The setup: Samba 2.0.7 running on Sparc Solaris 2.6 The VPN tunnel is between a OpenBSD 2.7 server and a Netopia R9100 router. The tunnel is negotiated using IKE. The server running Samba receives NetBIOS packets, I can see
