Viewing pdfs from inst/doc
Writing R extensions says:
In addition to the help files in Rd format, R packages allow the inclusion
of documents in arbitrary other formats. The standard location for these is
subdirectory inst/doc of a source package, the contents will be copied to
subdirectory doc when the package is installed. Pointers from package help
indices to the installed documents are automatically created.

Pegasus and Users
My first attempt at using Wine within Ubuntu to run my favourite email
program - Pegasus - resulted in a problem.
Pegasus is preinstalled on windows98, I gave the correct filepath and
everything appeared to be loading well until it asked for a 'user'.
Gave my normal Pegasus username and got the error message that the
user does not exist.
Tried various permutations of upper and lower

I am running some simulations which involve fitting a glm with

Uploads with FCKEditor
Hello everyone.
Since I''ve found very poor documentation about the rails FCKEditor
plug-in and Easy-FCKEditor (which is a fork of the very same plug-in),
I decided to bother you with my noobish questions.
I have this weird sensation that the image-uploading feature of
FCKEditor isn''t supposed to work magically, without some sort of
server side preparation, but I have no idea

ipfw core dump
Hi,
This is the first time I've come across this:
pid 11415 (ipfw), uid 0: exited on signal 11 (core dumped)
The core dump landed in root's home directory in one of my jails.
Has anyone seen this before? Should I be concerned? chkrootkit says
nothing. (How trustworthy is its output? ;-)
Thanks. Cheers.

How to disable font antialiasing?
Hi I was trying to run mu-online, I'm using wine 1.3.10 under kubuntu 10.04
The game installs(with vcrun2005,vcrun2008 and mcf42 from winetricks) But I can't see the fonts.
To see the fonts I read I have to disable anti-aliasing, this was possible in older versions of wine, but for some reasons it was disabled, or moved, any idea on how I can disable anti-aliasing?
It's not a

dimensioning: Where is the CPU vs Asterisk load table
Hi, is there any good calculator/table/reference about proper dimensioning?
I read the wiki and they basically say "xx users run fine in yy hardware"
http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+dimensioning.
SO far I read that:
-Run up to 4 E1s per CPU (which one? an i386 or a dual core?
-it is very CPU intensive to do transcoding. Try to minimize it.
-you can help the CPU

Implementation of DWARF expression parser
Hi,
This is my first post to this list, so I apologize in advance if I mess up on any list etiquette. Jumping right in, I’m making use of the DebugInfo/DWARF APIs to get debugging information out of binaries (what else!). One of the bits of data I need is the location information stored in the location list section as well as inline in DW_AT_location attributes and similar.
So far I’ve succeeded

vfs_recycle. Behaviour on modifing a file.
We have a samba share that is not used very much and when it is the files
are not be modified very often. The share will hold sensative information
and it is vital we can see what information the file contained for auditing
purposes.
I am not sure of the behaviour of the recycle bin when the contents of an
existing file are modified. I am told that modifing a file actually
deletes the original

Re: winecfg Audio tab crash - OS X Snow Leopard
Evelyn Brent's life and career were going quite well in 1928. Following her divorce from producer Bernard Fineman, she was happily living with writer Dorothy Herzog. The couple was often seen enjoying lunch at the Montmartre Caf9, and Brent had recently had a cabin built in the San Bernardino Mountains. The tiny brunette actress had wowed film fans and critics with recent appearances in the

RC3
I just wanted to make a few comments. So far, this rocks. I am
re-encoding a lot of my cd's because at -q 3.9 I am getting better than
I did at -b 140 in RC2. Very nice.
I tried to do a -M 32 with no other options on a track "Inxs - New
Sensations." I didn't use -m -b or -q. The voice seemed to be
remarkably well represented. The tone shifts and all seemed to be
there. The

Creating 'trash' folder
This might well be OT; however, I thought I would ask anyway.
Please keep in mind that the IMAP server is Dovecot.
I have a friend who uses Becky Internet Mail

options under the configuration menu in Becky to create the trash
folder on the server. It suggest ".trash" for the name. He is aware

isolinux bug?
Please forgive me if this is a known issue or "feature". I didn't notice
anything in the list archives or the docs, so I'm assuming this is a bug.
I was attempting to create a bootable LFS cd using the instructions found at
http://hints.linuxfromscratch.org/hints/boot-cd_easy.txt. I wasn't following
the steps exactly as I had some personal changes I wanted to make. One

A hiccup when using anova on gam() fits.
I stumbled across a mild glitch when trying to compare the
result of gam() fitting with the result of lm() fitting.
The following code demonstrates the problem:
library(gam)
x <- rep(1:10,10)
set.seed(42)
y <- rnorm(100)
fit1 <- lm(y~x)
fit2 <- gam(y~lo(x))
fit3 <- lm(y~factor(x))
print(anova(fit1,fit2)) # No worries.
print(anova(fit1,fit3)) # Likewise.
print(anova(fit2,fit3)) #

Printing an extra blank page all the time.
Hi,
I'm running samba-3.0.5 on OpenBSD 3.5.
I'm trying out using samba as a print server for the first time, and it
works ok, but I have this problem where everytime I print anything, a
additional blank page comes out of the printer at the end of what was
just printed.
It's an old HP Laserjet 4 connected to the parallel port of the samba
server.
