habtm confusion
Hello friends! I am trying to make a database that will have a group of people set to committees, and a person can be in multiple committees, and a committee obviously has multiple people. The people are senators at my university. These are my current models: senator.rb: -- class Senator < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :first_name, :last_name, :floor has_and_belongs_to_many

TentSteak 0.2.0
The second release of TentSteak is out and available as a gem on rubyforge ("gem install tent_steak"). This version introduces a handful of new form helpers, a couple method renames, editable HTML tables, and some application bootstrappers for kickstarting Camping and initializing ActiveRecord. It''s still in active development, and I''d very much appreciate

ffmpeg/ffmpeg2theora &vhooks
Hi theora-list, I'm involved in in a project to redistribute C-SPAN's floor footage from the US house and senate that we're capturing and converting*. This footage is in the public doman, however there's a C-SPAN overlay which is a registered trademark - we're having to overlay a "public domain" graphic on top of it. We're currently doing this with ffmpeg's vhook functi...

US "Truth in caller id act"... and it's impact on services
For the 3rd consecutive term, the US Senate has introduced the "Truth in caller ID Act of 2009". It was passed by the Senate (finally) in January, and has moved to the House for a vote. A lot of states have ambiguous or overly restrictive language on how caller ID may be manipulated. For instance, if you have a PBX, and a cal...

For instance, a quad CPU system was accidentally booted as 2.6.9-78.0.5.EL but we need to load 2.6.9-78.0.5.ELsmp instead. Any help would be appreciated. -- Article. VI. [idstewart@compuvative.com: DdeConnect errors while running setup.exe]
Apologies to those for whom this is a cross-post. I posted this to wine-devel before realizing this was the proper forum. Due to resource constraints (75 MHz processor, 1.2 GB hard drive, 16 MB RAM), we recently replaced Windows98 on our daughter's PC with Linux Mandrake, using the IceWM window manager. It isn't quite as flashy as Windows, but it boots beyond the startup screen, which

Performance Issues: I/O Wait
Hey, everyone, I''m having some issues with a Xen DomU right related to performance. We have an application that cross-compiles a Linux distribution from scratch for embedded systems. We''re attempting to run this application inside a Xen DomU (paravirtualized, modified guest kernel), and the performance is really bad. The culprit seems to be high I/O wait times related to the

package file permissions problem R 3.0.0/Windows OS
Dear list members, I'm experiencing a file permissions problem with a package built under Windows with R 3.0.0. I've encountered the problem on two Windows computers, one running Windows 7 and the other Windows 8, and both when I build the package under RStudio or directly in a Windows console via "R CMD build". In particular, the cleanup file for the package, which as I
