Why does RH's Samba build use a file for shared memory?
Samba needs a block of shared memory for storing file handles and
related info. The amount of memory to use is defined as a specific
size (default: 1MB), created at smbd startup, and used thereafter.
I've noticed that in the RPMs available from the Samba team's Website
that they use RAM to hold the shared memory (this is the default),
while RedHat's own RPMs create a file to hold

Root did not create the semaphore
Hello all,
I have a very annoying situation (at least at my end). I set up Samba
2.0.5 on a Digital UNIX 4.0F system sitting on a Compaq DS20 server with
great success.... until recently. I set up three directory file shares
with no problems, when I tried to set up a forth, quite a while after
setting up the inital three, I tried to access it from a NT box, I got
the message server not found,

newbie question re block-attach on ubuntu 11.10
I''m a complete newbie at Xen, just getting started.
I was happy to see that Ubuntu 11.10 includes Xen again,
http://zulcss.wordpress.com/2011/09/04/xen-4-1-1-on-ubuntu/
So I installed ubuntu 11.10''s precompiled Xen,
and started playing around with it.
I''m not even trying to start another VM at the moment,
just playing around with mounting block devices,
and had trouble
