available at german universities/libraries. This seems not to be the case
yet.
So the transmission of the code would be appreciated a lot. Many, many
thanks for your offer.
Could i ask you for a little comment on Steve Selvin's publication? If
it's not available publicly in Germany within the next time, i probably
will try to get it via a bookstore at my own cost.

Poisson Maximum Likelihood Estimation
Hi
I am trying to carry out some maximum likelihood estimation and I'm not
making much headway, and I'm hoping that someone will be able to point me in
the right direction.
I am modelling mortality statistics. One way to do this is to model the
mortality rate (or, more accurately, log of the mortality rate, log_m) as
(say) a constant plus a proportion of age, plus time, so:

bootstrap: boot package
I'm teaching a class and using R for the first time. We're talking
about the bootstrap, and I've been trying to get R to replicate some
simple bootstrap programs with no success. I'd like to be able to use
the boot.ci function to produce confidence intervals (non-parametric)
for some simple statistics, and this requires first creating a "boot"
object. The boot

Hello & a simple question
Hello,
I'm new to R, but it seems to work nicely for me from the start. Being a
molecular biologist, I do not have a profound knowledge of statistical
reasoning. I have two questions:
1) is there an other manual for R available apart from the `R-intro'
document, especially one with more in-deep description of calculating
basic statistics with R?
...and a more specific one:
2) Suppose
