Upgrade from 4.2.10 Sernet packages to 4.4.2 selfcompiled
Hi, is there a "How to" for upgrading a DC from 4.2.10 Sernet packages to Samba 4.4.2 self compiled on a debian system? I think there are two options? Replace the sernet file: 1. Compile Samba (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Build_Samba_from_source) with the paths given by smbd -b 2. make install But what happens to the sernet packages/repository handled by the package manager?

WinMM section
Hi, I try to run the new windows media encoder. I got the codeweaver's wine, running SuSE 7.0 (selfcompiled 2.4.4 Kernel). And there is no ms-windows partition on my machine. I copied from a windows machine (win98) AVICAP.dll, AVICAP32.dll and MSVCRT20.dll to 'c:\windows' and, of course the exe file. When executing the encoder says, it looks like that it is not installed properly and exits. B...

Samba AD/DC crashed again, third time in as many months
Samba is compiled from source. Samba DB is stored on local RAID array. Changes to AD are done using ADUC from a Windows 7 box. AD is used for authentication, user shares (folder redirection), and shared folders. Profiles XP and Service Pack 1
Hi List, we have a 130+ PC network running windows XP on the clients, with win2000 and samba servers (SuSE 7.3 distribution rpm for samba 2.2.3 and SuSE 8.0 selfcompiled samba 2.2.5). The windows servers just authenticate the users, and provide some additional services (Terminal Server and some special software packages). Print- and File- services are provided by the samba servers. We use roaming profiles that are stored on the samba servers. Up to now we d...

...a share as follows: "could not fetch trust account password for domain xy" Server is a Windows2000 Advanced one.. machine account from the samba-server is visible in "Computers" after having successfully joined the domain. I tried several setups with 2.2.5, 2.2.4 (selfcompiled) and 2.2.3a (debian-sid package) everytime the same. So I guess something with the configuration is missing; perhaps I have to make changes in the W2k-Server configuration. Now - is there anybody out there, who knows how to solve this one? Samba AD/DC crashed again, third time in as many months
...me other paste service and share the link with us. Maybe we see something interesting. Does something changed when the problem occured the first time? Some package updates, crashes, etc.? Can you make sure that no kind of Samba package (daemon, libs, etc.) is installed on the system? Maybe your selfcompiled version overwrites some stuff and your OS installed an update, that mixes now with the self compiled version. Just a guess. Regards, Marc
