Robbie,
The "upsrw" command contacts upsd, so it sounds like you should be able to add a user to upsd.users on the NAS, and then run something like this on the Mac:
upsrw -s battery.charge.low=80 -u upsmaster -s sekret UPS at synology

upsrw is available on the Mac:
upsrw -s battery.charge.low=80 -u upsmaster -s sekret UPS
I suppose I have to use -u for user? Which user? and -p for password?
What does -s sekret UPS means? -s means variable to be changed but I don?t know which variable this is, sekret.
Kind regards,
Rob

Yes I have them both running on the Synology DSM:

On the Mac I have in upsmon.conf

2. On the NAS, use command
upsrw -s battery.charge.low=80 -u upsmaster -s sekret UPS
to set the low limit very high during testing. This will speed up your testing. You can reset it to something else later.
When I run this command:
upsc ups at localhost:
battery.charge.low: 10
The commando upsrw cannot be found on the Synology NAS?

DIGEST-MD5 user/realm mismatch with Postfix
This is a follow-on to the "SQL field format for digest-md5?" thread.
After some additional debugging, I've found the problem is a mismatch in
what Dovecot expects and Postfix uses for the user and realm.
For a username "user at example.com" and password "sekret", Dovecot expects:
username = "user"
realm = "example.com"
but Postfix sends the checksum of:
username = "user at example.com"
realm = ""
How do I fix this?

Hello,
I have just installed the plugin.
Can somebody tell me how create some users in the ''users'' table.
Is there a doc explaining how to use the plugin for a newbie?
Thanks

How about temporarily setting the battery.charge.low to some very high value:
upsrw -s battery.charge.low=90 -u <user> -p sekret my-UPS
I suggest adding something like the following lines to the top of upssched-cmd
so that you can include the value of $CHMSG in all your messages.
STATUS=$( upsc $UPS ups.status )
CHARGE=$( upsc $UPS battery.charge )
CHMSG="[$STATUS]:$CHARGE%"
This will give you a clearer i...

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve successfully done both of these, and see the message [FSD OB DISCHRG LB] 87% successfully output in a dialog.

Synology NAS is shutting down Ubuntu servers after very brief power outage (fwd)
...ng like
if [[ "$St" =~ "OL" ]]; then
SYSLOG "WARNING: UPS is On-Line"
return
This assumes that the NAS supports the =~ operator of Bash 4. To reduce the
long wait: in the NAS you need to execute
upsrw -s battery.charge.low=85 -u <upsuser> -p sekret <myups>
Better is to set this value in the NAS ups.conf.

How to get started (Windows)
...> preserve battery as much as possible.
"Shortly after" means using timers. If you want to preserve the battery
charge, but not use timers, you need to use a combination of OB and LB and
set your LB level high using a command such as
upsrw -s battery.charge.low=60 -u upsmaster -p sekret my-ups

Setting "slave" says that upsmon on the Mac is to shutdown the Mac as soon
as LB is detected in the NAS.
I suggest
1. Shutting down on LB rather than on a timer since it's easier to set
up.
2. On the NAS, use command
upsrw -s battery.charge.low=80 -u upsmaster -s sekret UPS
to set the low limit very high during testing. This will speed up your
testing. You can reset it to something else later.

Does upsmon.conf specify a shutdown on LB? What happens if you let the battery
power the system until LB is reached? You could set LB to say 85% for more
rapid testing with
upsrw -s battery.charge.low=85 -u <upsuser> -p <sekret> my-ups at localhost

How do I disable messages from upsmon?
...into the upsmon.conf file and commented out the "online" and "onbatt" NOTIFYFLAG messages. I then did a reload of upsmon...but found I was still getting the messages.
Long story short, my upsmon.conf file now consists of a single entry:
MONITOR rtdups at localhost 1 upsmaster sekret master
I'm still getting the onbattery, online, comm good, comm bad, etc system messages. Clearly there is some default behavior going on. How do I keep these system messages from happening?
Thanks
Rob
