LoadBalancing on many asimetric different dsl''s.
Hi, my company have just bought new network and I have question about one problem. As in topic we must use few completely different dsl''s and balance traffic between them. 2M/0,5M 4Mb/0,5M 8M/0,5M M=Mb/s I''ve never done such thing before so I have doubts how it will work. If the links are symmetric 2/2 4/4 8/8 there is no problem because with weights I can compensate the

Track Markers?
...llo. I have tried filing this as a support request, but have not received any reply in 3 weeks now so am trying this route instead. I hope this is okay. We are trying to talk a record label into offering FLAC streams for a band, and they have finally agreed to do this. Trouble is, the albums have segues - no silences between tracks - and the label want to only offer whole albums. Therefore - and this is my problem - I need to insert track markers into the FLAC stream. How do I do this? The streams are 24-bit 48kHz stereo, and up to 60 minutes in length. There are an average of 10 tracks per strea...

Parallel R
...rent starting values etc. I have a quad core PC with 16GB ram running windows 7. Having done a little reading it seems the two best options for me are: 1.) Use the academic version of REvolution R enterprise which will let me run the code in parallel on my own PC. 2.) Or install Unubtu and use Segue and Amazon EC2 (or some equivalent). Just to get an idea how much faster is option 2 liable to be (given that its slightly more difficult to set up). Is it realistic to have a dual boot on my PC? Music on hold
...callers were on hold. I realize that the streaming category will do just that, but since this is a local file, the setup works differently. (This is replacing a set of about 10 previous files that worked perfectly.) Is there any way, other than splitting up the file and trying to make decent segues between the files, to get this to work on a current version? I realize that getting it redone would be the best way, but I don't know if that is going to be an easy possibility. Any recommendations? Thanks! Kris

Samba on top of NFS question
...amba locking options, etc..). We now have data on "Server C" and Samba hosting it off it's local drives.. It's only been one day so far, but so far (knock on wood) no freezes. In addition samba runs much smoother on the clients end, such as (*right-click*properties boxes etc...) Segue to question... Question(s): Does Samba not work on top of NFS? Is there any better way for Samba to access the data on the failover pair of servers than NFS? Is it locking that is causing us problems? What is the correct 'Samba' way to get remote data shared to multiple samba front ends?...

Altivec, automake
...patible dev tools). First problem: typo in doc/Makefile.am; my patch is attachment 3. Then configure doesn't check for inttypes.h, causing a compile error as soon as ordinals.h:50. I imagine this is due to that antique version of autoconf, but I figured I'd mention it to make sure. And to segue me into this. I think it would be handy (especially for ac/am newbies) if something like autogen.sh contained: -a tip about the -I option to aclocal -a note about xmms; the only way I know to run aclocal without it is to comment- out the AM_PATH_XMMS line in configure.in -version suggestions for au...

Archiving CDs w/ Flac on Linux (and subsequent re-encoding)
This must be possible; not sure how to do it yet. :) After facing the thought of going through my cd collection for a 3rd time for re-encoding, it occurred to me that I should just flac the whole CD and add a cue sheet, and then back up to DVDs. That way -next- time I need to re-encode to any format, I can handle ~1/20th the discs, compared to my whole cd collection. :) Wondering if

GEP with a null pointer base
Chris, nice segue to Swift ! :-), but... The question is what should LLVM do with UB in general, saying that we are going to change one specific idiom from undefined to defined glosses over the real question: why should we ever optimize / delete any UB at all ? This “depressing and faintly terrifying thing” as...

Archiving CDs w/ Flac on Linux (and subsequent re-encoding)
...s not leave out any sectors, so I can always un-flac back to one wav per track, and splice them together. I'm using cdrdao to save a toc file for later cd creation if that becomes necessary. Tested this on a live album (Johnny Cash Live at Folsom Prison) and there is no lost audio; tracks segue seamlessly as on the original disc. The downside of one flac per trac seems to be a little added complexity of stitching them back together* The upside is that I think it's simpler to store track metadata, especially for later conversion to other formats, since it can operate file-by-file....

Well given that I fed cdrdao the toc file that it originally extracted, they should be, right? Do you mean check that the cue point...

Compiz Key binding and application key bindings
Hi, Suppose I have a compiz key-binding (let's say Ctrl and +) that performs a particular action (let's say maximization) and the current active application (say xterm) also does something with the same key-binding (zoom in xterm) - compiz handles the event and does not pass it on to the application. Is this desired behavior? Is the behavior configurable? Shouldn't compiz handle it

R on the cloud - Windows to Linux
Hello, I'm working with the gam function and due to the amount of data I am working with it is taking a long time to run. I looked at the tips to get it to run faster, but none have acceptable side effects. That is the real problem. I have accepted that gam will run a long time. I will be running gam many times for many different models. To make gam useable I am looking at splitting the work

Gapless Support
...any track, but to preserve the overall flow most ripping software will add the silence to the end of the previous track. That way the tracks will all start at the beginning of the music, not on silence. For some albums, this fails on tracks where the pre-gap might actually be part of an intro or a segue from the previous track. I can't think of any specific examples, but many albums of live music will have a spoken intro before some tracks (mastered in the pre-gap). > If I rip now all 4 titles and play them later the player must know, that > Song 1 is not gapless but Song2 and 3 ?Fit?...
