2008 GPLPV + Sysprep /generalize
..., but it appears the
standard thing to is to run "sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown" and
then backup the image for later duplication.
The problem comes with the /generalize flag, which Google seems to tell
me is needed to reset the internal Windows SID
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_identifier) but the /generalize
flag also appears to reset the "bcdedit" change.
I have also tried using the hacky ReadyDriver Plus, but it suffers the
the same problem when combined with /generalize.
Has anyone on the list encountered this issue before? Any advice on a
solution or work-around...

I have successfully cloned many versions of Windows OS, then
booted the clone and changed static IP using Network Connections
widget -> Change Adaptor Settings, without incident, where my
intent is never to run both systems at the same time. Not clear
to me what circumstance would warrent editi...

Domain SID vs. Local SID on Domain Controller & SID requirements
IF a samba server is setup to be a domain controller, should
it's local SID = the domain SID?
Also, what are the requirements of a SID?
I usually see S-1-5-21-x-y-z, where x,y,z = 10 digits, but
could x,y,z be 1,2,3 (for example)? I.e. do they have to be
10 digit numbers or can they be shorter?
If I have a simple setup, and want a sid I can remember can I
just make it 'short'?

Usiing SID's in Linux? Is it possible?
I would like to be able to use SID's in linux so as to have ACL's identical
to windows.
Example usage why:
Say I have an ntfs partitioned disk that I share with a co-worker that uses
windows.
Currently I am connected to the domain using rfc2307 and that allows me to
authenticate using AD and on the nfs through the Isilon the windows users
see files correctly permissioned but when I share

KVM clone
Hello everybody.
I have a simple question.
If I clone an existing KVM image of win server with static IP, the clone
will have the same IP?
It's probably stupid question, but I want to be sure.
I have a full updated centos 7 box.
Thank you in advance.
Nikos.

Win7 cannot net use z: Samba share
Hi all
The symptom is:

My situation
I am using VirtualBox. Windows 7 Home is the host. Fedora 13 is the guest.
My goal is to cause the Fedora guest to expose an smb share to the Win 7
host and have the Win 7 host mount the share as a drive.
My procedure:
