W2K Domain Users in Samba
...and chown. This seems to work OK. When I am on the WinXp client and I look
at the security permissions tab on the folder properties that I own, I
cannot see the NT4 Domain Users, all I see are the \\localmachine\user
when what I want is the \\domain\user. When I try to add a domain user in
the secrutiy properties page I see the domain and the list of users but
when I select a user or group and select add it does not add it to the
folder properties. I am new to Samba -- am I missing some simple
configuration parameter or is this how it is suppose to work.

So far i've seen, the output of getfacl is exact of what is set in secrutiy.NTACL.
If that isnt the case then we have a problem in my opinion.
And you could compair it with : getfattr -n security.NTACL yourFile/folder
And I would not ignore the getfacl even with the known limitation of the "SYSTEM" and some other BUILTIN\xxx.. Users/groups.

Installing Rails - gem file not found
...llowing the cookbook directions on the rubyonrails site but
when I come to the install step;
gem install rails --include-dependencies
I get the message;
Local gem file not found: rails*.gem
It then goes and trys a remote install from rubyforge which never works
even when I shut all my network secrutiy down.
I did a search on rails*.gem and all I found was;
rails-1.1.2.gem
It is in a rails subfolder I put inside the ruby folder. (There doesn''t
seem to be a gems folder.)
Why can''t gems find it?
Thanks, -Rhe.

[SOLVED] Samba 4: 'Access denied' error when accessing user profile during logon
Hai,
Now, i did not know you used the DC for the profiles here but yes it looks good.
Small comment on point 3 and 4.
3) Its good, you might notice a few more rights there compaired to what i posted,
thats because you have your profiles on the DC but the settings are good.
4) yes, the security is ok, i like the higher security setting and try to mimic the windows settings as much as

auth to two diff PDCs? (success, sort of)
With a single server, settings "security = server" and
"password server = pdc1 pdc2', I can successfully
authenticate against two entirely different PDCs
depending on which order I put the two machines in
the 'password server' list.
Is there someway of forcing clients from either
domain to authenticate against the 'right' pdc,
regardless of the order in the
