send_file and opd_dir Permission denied (13)
I am trying to backup some samba shares on computera to computerb
all accounts on computera match computerb passwords and groups
The rsyncd.conf file is as follow
[rsync]
uid = root
gid = root
max connections = 10
syslog facility = local5
pid file = /var/run/rsyncd.pid
auth users = root

Migrating from 2.2.8a to 3.02a
...from MDK 9.1/Samba 2.2.8a to MDK 10.0/Samba 3.02a.
The backend is LDAP.
Going through the documentation it seemed like everything would be sort of
simple:
Install new machine, setup smb.conf as BDC, rsync every share (including
homes, netlogon and profiles) across, set ldap admin password in
secrests.tdb, inject correct domain SID, dump current PDC LDAP tree to ldif,
import ldif into BDC, join BDC to domain and fire up samba.
Everything described worked out more or less as expected.
The problem was that any attempt to log on to a share gave an
NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE error.

still looking for an answer.
Basically, I'm looking for help in configuring Samba 3.02a in an active/passive
cluster (failover).
Currently I have two nodes running Solaris 8. Only one is active at a time. The
active node is running Samba. It's netbios name is printserver1. Printerserver1
is also DNS

copy of smbpasswd
Hi,
I have to move our old samba file server to a new machine.
The old samba server was a RedHat8 with samba 2.2.5. The new one is SLES9
with samba 3.0.2b-3.4 SuSE
Is there a way to re-use the old smbpasswd file?
In the log-files I can see that the authentication fails when I try to
access a shared folder.
A windows client keeps on asking the login and password.
Is it possible to re-use
