Contrasts in mixed effects model: difference between differences
...sed the following model to get coefficients representing
whether, for each level of Second, there is a significant difference (in
the outcome variable, Latency) between the levels of First:
test <- lmer( Latency ~ Second / First + (1|Subject) + (1|Item), data )
This gives me nice output like:
SecondA:First2 -0.009879 0.008283 -1.19
SecondB:First2 -0.032136 0.008293 -3.88
SecondC:First2 0.006748 0.008131 0.83
SecondD:First2 0.006153 0.008206 0.75

linear contrasts with anova
...ity of my procedure to estimeate linear contrasts ina a factorial design.
For sake of semplicity, let's imagine a one way ANOVA with three levels. I am interested to test the significance of the difference between the first and third level (called here contrast C1) and between the first and the seconda level (called here contrast C2). I used the following procedure:

boot 32 or 64 kernel depending on cpu
...led upon two problems while developing it with current git
version (last commit 595705ffad4f63cfeb84e9bb1243df03808c2fff).
The first was that syslinux_boot_linux didn't work for me. Both the
command line and initrd data was garbage. The code I was developing is
attached as l32or64_linux.c
The seconda was that com32/include/syslinux/boot.h declares
syslinux_run_kernel_image, but it isn't defined anywhere, so I went with
syslinux_run_command.
