Should I choose DSL @ 1.5 or a full T1?
I'm looking to expand my bandwidth for my Asterisk PBX. Why should I choose a T1 over DSL for my asterisk server? I found someone offering T1's for $290 a month + Loops or 3 Meg for $561 a month + Loops. Is this a good deal? Thanks Bart -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Netopia SDSL modem w/ IAX2 calls...
...ens up? I've really traced this thing out as best I can - it isn't a lack of bandwidth on the DSL connection (I've had three concurrent Ulaw calls coming in at once with no problems), nor a problem within the network (other intranetwork traffic isn't affected by the call) - the SDSL modem just stops sending/recieving all other trraffic when I get a call via IAX - this includes web traffic, UDP packets for the for VPN, ftp, etc... SDSL modem is a Netopia R7100-C. Anyone ever seen or heard of anything like this??? Thanks for your patience with me, I'm doing a ton of go...

routing problems with two SDSL-connections
Hello List, in our office we have two independant SDSL-connections. One of them is a flatrate, the other is a dedicated line to our webfarm. The goal is to route all the traffic to the webfarm through the dedicated line and all other traffic through the flatrate. The maschine has three nics: eth0: internal network eth1: webfarm eth2: flatrate Each conn...

HTB Rate and Prio (continued)
Hi again, I keep posting about my problem with HTB -> http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/2005q3/016611.html With a bit of search I recently found the exact same problem I have in the 2004 archives with some graphs that explain it far better than I did -> http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/2004q4/014519.html and http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/2004q4/014568.html

12 seat call centre with Asterisk, VoIP only, UK - possible?
...th calls is approx ?5,000 for several feature lines. How feasible is something like this with asterisk? I guess one big question is which type of circuit to use, ADSL in the UK is only 256kbs upstream, some providers do bonding but I'm not sure its supported fully by BT :( The other option is SDSL which is not too cheap! Then there is the choice of a reliable SIP provider. Do others doing this have accounts with 2 or 3 providers as fallback? Thanks for any comments. Mike

MTU and Voice Delay (latency??)
Our users are experiencing some unacceptable delay when trying to have a conversation. The delay is so noticeable that they keep stepping on each others words and resort to calling the customers via cell phone. Here is the setup SDSL Connection (PPPoA) Speedtouch 610 SDSL Modem 3Com 2224PWR Plus Switch (phones on separate VLAN) 8 Cisco 796 Phones All connecting to a remote Asterisk Server. We found that the MTU for the SDSL modem was set to 1500 and I have since changed it to 1458 which is the ISP's recommended setting....

IAX2 trunking scalability
Hi List, I have a 2Mbps SDSL link which gets saturated during peak time because about I have about 3 E1 worth of g729 traffic going thru. So I'm planning to use IAX2 trunking to reduce bandwith requirement and squeeze out each and every bit of this (expensive) bandwith. I've set up two boxes (debian etch), one i...

Nearing my wits end....bad switch???
...switch in a deployment? I have two separate asterisk installations with bad one-way audio where the only common elements left are the Dell switches and Polycom IP-500 phones. Two different ITSPs - one location uses IAX2 to the outside world, the other SIP. Two different bandwidth providers, one SDSL 1.5 Mbps and the other T1. Both locations had Dell servers (different models though), but I've since replaced one of them with a clone with no improvement. In both locations the computers were plugged into the switch port on the phones and I've tried separating them with no luck. The prob...

Which SIP transport from France and termination services in the Nederlands

The service I'm thinking about is plain local call termination : hotel guests cost effectively call their relatives in their home country (the Nederlands in this case). The setup is : SIP hardphones in France------<LAN> ------ Asterisk --------<SDSL>---------- <www ? or MPLS network ?> -----------<Gateway>-------- <PSTN> --------- Phone in the Nederlands I'm wondering what kind of service I should buy to get reliable SIP call transportation (from France to the Nederlands) and local termination (in the Nederlands). HTB Weird Shaping Question(Bug?). Please Help!
Hi all, I have a script that allocates an ADSL(1500K/256K) bandwidth to three users. My idea is to allow each user having a guarentee rate, while each one is allowed to burst to the max rate while no one is using the bandwidth. I use imq0 for uplink (for some mobility reason) and imq1 for downlink. Everything works smoothly except for VoIP traffic. There are three VoIP phones attached to a

Multi-tenant with receptionist features for managed service
Dear all, I'm currently researching options for a MT asterisk gui/system for a small business centre that will have 12 units in it. Each unit will be configured for one extension. The system there will have a max of 12 concurrent calls to PSTN provided via an ADSL/SDSL link to our VoIP provider in the UK, using g.711, maybe g.729 dependant on networking costs. Fallback will be to 4 analogue lines should this go down. What is key is billing information and the ability for a receptionist to see all active calls and do transfers etc. Much like the Flash Operator Pa...

Samba multi-site advice request please
...ill be synced to keep the authentication consistent and reduce VPN traffic. Each site will have it's own DNS, the PDC being the master and the BDCs slaves. The low number of machines involved mean I can set the clients to use their local DNS. The whole plot will be required to run across 2mb SDSL as this is all the budget will stretch to. Every other proposal has involved server 2008 and terminal services but I really want to go down the Linux/Samba route. Is there anyone out there that has successfully pulled this off and can give me some advice? I've spent a few hours searching G...
