I'm looking to expand my bandwidth for my Asterisk PBX. Why should I choose a T1 over DSL for my asterisk server? I've really traced this thing out as best I can - it isn't a lack of bandwidth on the DSL connection (I've had three concurrent Ulaw calls coming in at once with no problems), nor a problem within the network (other intranetwork traffic isn't affected by the call) - the SDSL modem just stops sending/recieving all other trraffic when I get a call via IAX - this includes web traffic, UDP packets for the for VPN, ftp, etc... I guess one big question is which type of circuit to use, ADSL in the UK is only 256kbs upstream, some providers do bonding but I'm not sure its supported fully by BT :( The other option is SDSL which is not too cheap! Our users are experiencing some unacceptable delay when trying to have a conversation. The delay is so noticeable that they keep stepping on each others words and resort to calling the customers via cell phone.
