sdc1 without the sdc
So I'm working with the iSCSI Initiator and an EqualLogic SAN. I'm not sure when this might have happened, but it appears that the /dev/sdc device is missing, yet the /dev/sdc1 partition exists AND is mountable. Is there a method to re-create the /dev/sdc device? I cannot dd or fdisk it, obviously, but I can mount the /dev/sdc1 partition and it works just fine. Not having the /dev/sdc is messing up my multipath setup (let alone what...

Growing HW RAID arrays, Online
...ese layers also says that it can do that 'online' without interruption or rebooting. But making it happen is not that easy. When the HW raid controller's grow completes, we echo 1 to /sys/bus/scsi/devices/#:#:#:#/rescan and the kernel notices and updates the size of the block device. (sdc in this case) sdc1 is the only partition on the device, and should consume the entire device. sdc1 is a PV in a VG that holds production data and must not become unavailable at any time. After growing sdc as mentioned earlier, parted notices that the end-of-drive partition table is missing, fixes...

Filesystem labeling confusion or mess up
Hi, I do have an iscsi storage with two raidsets. I'm logged in to the target and get two devices: /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc. After formatting the devices with ext4 I realised, that I had used a wrong label, so I tried to relabel the devices. But now I'm confused: doing a e2label /dev/sdb or /dev/sdc returns always the same label name for both devices. so I did "e2label /dev/sdb students" and "e2l...

Ext4 mess .... and EXT4-fs error (device sdc): ext4_mb_generate_buddy
...Centos 6.5 server, Hardware ISCSI HBA from Emulex OneConnect, most recent drivers and firmware from emulex installed. Directly attached a 10G ISCSI Storage from QSan. Two Raid volumes, Raid 5, 8 Disks each at 2 TB so 14 TB each logic raid volume. Both volumes are logged in and usable as sdb and sdc to the server. Formatted with ext4 -m 0 -v /dev/sd... Now I copied about 600 GB from an old server to one of the new volumes. No problems at all. But moving other data from the old server to the second volume shows the error in the logs: EXT4-fs error (device sdc): ext4_mb_generate_buddy: EXT4...

Can you please let me know how can I overcome this as the fdisk now returns as " #fdisk /dev/sdc "I do not know how to handle files with mode 81a4 must set cylinders" What can...

Broken output for fdisk -l
Hi, There was some problem with our system so I re-installed the server with CentOS 7. Now, when I am trying to run 'fdisk -l' command, it is returning a broken output. It throws this error- "fdisk: cannot open /dev/sdc: Input/output error". There are valid /dev/sdd and /dev/sde devices which are mounted and they are accessible but, somehow /dev/sdc is having a problem and 'fdisk -l' is not returning the full output. Below is an output of fdisk -l for reference. Any suggestion on how to fix this wou...

Replication issue
...ersion 4.1.6-Zentyal. I don't know if it's modified by the Zentyal team but they don't support this version anymore, that's why I'm writing to this list. The previos sysadmin told me that replication stopped working a while back, but only in one direction. PDC gets replicated to SDC successfully but SDC does not get replicated to PDC. If I run the samba-tool drs replicate PDC SDC DC=mydomain,DC=lan --full-sync command I get the following error: ERROR(<class 'samba.drs_utils.drsException'>): DsReplicaSync failed - drsException: DsReplicaSync failed (58, 'WERR...
