How do I correctly mount a multidevice volume via fstab?
Hi all, I am using a single volume across two devices sdb7 and sda1, initially created on sdb7, and added sda1 using btrfs-vol later. The fstab entry: /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_ST31000333AS_9TE12DSC-part7 /mnt/btrfs btrfs defaults 1 2 Now after boot I get: ---- device fsid c4822885057410c-d2d65a83c2f15fb4 devid 1 transid 73034 /dev/sdb7 btrfs: failed t...

Utility tool for dm-ioband.
Hi everyone, I made a utility tool for dm-ioband version 0.0.4, named iobandctl. It enables you to easily apply I/O bandwidth control to an entire disk, and manage it. It helps you set the percentage of bandwidth to give each partition, and each user, process, group, or cgroup. (You are not able to use cgroup support yet, because the dm-ioband patch to enable cgroup support

corruption happening sometimes when I do a shutdown -r now
Hi all, Apologies but this is going to be a long post. I get a corruption sometime when I do a $sudo shutdown -r now This is on an ubuntu 8.10 machine. The only way to resolve the same I know is to do a sudo fsck -y /dev/sdb7 This is the output I got when I ran fsck through the Live CD $ sudo fsck -y /dev/sdb7 fsck 1.41.3 (12-Oct-2008) e2fsck 1.41.3 (12-Oct-2008) /dev/sdb7 contains a file system with errors, check forced. External USB Drive partitioning, formatting and configuring Bacula server
...n't understand, when partitions are created, why does Linux number it awkwardly? For example, I created 1 Primary partition of 10% disk, then created 1 Extended partition of 90% disk. Inside that extended partition, I created 3 logical partitions 33% each. It went numbering sdb1, sdb5, sdb6 and sdb7. Where's the hell 2,3 and 4? Anyways, I've got my partitions now and formatted them so, it's all good. Thanks for your help with this. Next, as I went through Bacula's pages, I found that they mostly use tape drives for backup....ugh.......how can I use my usb partitions with Bacul...

How do I boot a system root on a multidevice BTRFS subvol?
Hello, recently I installed a distribution I want to look at via chroot into a btrfs subvolume on a multidevice btrfs. Now I tried to boot this, the kernel command line in GRUB looks as follows so far: /kernel-2.6.29-rc7-git3 root=/dev/sdb7 rootfstype=btrfs rootflags=device=/dev/sda1,subvol=archroot This gives "VFS: cannot find sdb7 or bad block", like it would when trying to mount via fstab without -o device=foo The fstab line for / looks like: /dev/sdb7 / btrfs device=/dev/sda1,subvol=archroot 1 1 Is this possible a...

hard disk install failure
...a hard disk, and each time it failed after installing all the rpms, with the warning "The installation has tried to mount image #2, but cannot find it on the hard drive." When I pressed the Debug button one time after the failure, it seemed to say that it was looking for the file in /dev/sdb7//ext2/ (/dev/sdb7 being the site of the DVD ISO). But I'm not sure what "image #2" is? Or where it should be put? Incidentally, I started by copying isolinux/vmlinuz and isolinux/initrd.img to the the directory CentOS-5.6 in the /boot parition of a working linux (Fedora) system, and...

vmx_update_guest_cr() losing EXCEPTION_BITMAP setting
Running a heavily modified xen-unstable changset 19590:f80cf52a4fb6 with debugger_attached set, I was seeing the debug traps getting lost from the EXCEPTION_BITMAP in vmx_update_guest_cr() when transitioning from real to protected mode. In my codebase, I could fix this trivially by clearing the debug_state_latch and letting vmx_do_resume() reapply the setting. However, while it looks like a valid
