How to estimate the residual SD for each sample separately in mixed-effects model?
...s measured results is almost 1, with very small RMSE. However, I am not interested in the estimates of the mean, but in SDs from the model. I access the SDs using b<-VarCorr(c.lme). There: - the 'attr(b$Assay, "stddev")' is the assay-to-assay SD component for each sample (SDaa) - the 'attr(b$Run, "stddev")' is the run-to-run component (SDrr) - the 'attr(b, "sc")' i.e. the residual (SDres), would be the within-run component, but it's a single number for all the samples. * The problem: - how to estimate the 'within-run...

really large file systems with centos
I've been asked for ideas on building a rather large archival storage system for inhouse use, on the order of 100-400TB. Probably using CentOS 6. The existing system this would replace is using Solaris 10 and ZFS, but I want to explore using Linux instead. We have our own tomcat based archiving software that would run on this storage server, along with NFS client and server. Its a

[PATCH v2 00/12] Allow APIs to be implemented in OCaml.
Version 1 was here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-June/msg00003.html This patch series reimplements a few more APIs in OCaml, including some very important core APIs like ?list_filesystems? and ?mount?. All the tests pass after this. The selection of APIs that I have moved may look a little random, but in fact they are all APIs consumed by the inspection code (and some more

[PATCH v3 00/19] Allow APIs to be implemented in OCaml.
v2 was here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-June/msg00008.html This series gets as far as a working (and faster) reimplementation of ‘guestfs_list_filesystems’. I also have another patch series on top of this one which reimplements the inspection APIs inside the daemon, but that needs a bit more work still, since inspection turns out to be a very large piece of code. [PATCH 00/27] Reimplement many daemon APIs in OCaml.
Previously posted as part of the mega utilities/inspection series here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-June/msg00232.html What I've done is to extract just the parts related to rewriting daemon APIs in OCaml, rebase them on top of the current master, fix a few things, and recompile and test everything. Rich.

[PATCH v3 00/23] Reimplement many daemon APIs in OCaml.
I think this fixes everything mentioned: - Added the Optgroups module as suggested. - Remove command temporary files. - Replace command ~flags with ?fold_stdout_on_stderr. - Nest _with_mounted function. - Rebase & retest. Rich.

Xen and I/O Intensive Loads
Hi, folks, I''m attempting to run an e-mail server on Xen. The e-mail system is Novell GroupWise, and it serves about 250 users. The disk volume for the e-mail is on my SAN, and I''ve attached the FC LUN to my Xen host, then used the "phy:/dev..." method to forward the disk through to the domU. I''m running into an issue with high I/O wait on the box (~250%)

[PATCH v3 0/4] [FOR COMMENTS ONLY] Rework inspection.
Previously posted: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2015-December/msg00038.html Inspection now really succeeds on a small number of simple guests. To test it out: $ ./run guestfish -v -x -a /tmp/centos-6.img ><fs> run ><fs> debug sh "guestfs-inspection --verbose" Rich.

[PATCH 0/6 v2] [FOR COMMENTS ONLY] Rework inspection.
This is a more working version. Inspection (partially) succeeds on a real guest this time :-) You can test it out on a real guest (in this case, a CentOS disk image located at /tmp/centos-6.img) by doing: $ ./run guestfish -v -x -a /tmp/centos-6.img ><fs> run ><fs> debug sh "guestfs-inspection --verbose" which will print lots of debugging, and at the end the
