Advanced Fat32 mount in /etc/fstab
Hi, my name is Steven.
I am trying to figure out the mount command to put into /etc/fstab;
Basically I want a FAT32 partition mounted,
but I want specific user/group ownership for a normal
user of the mountpoint and all directorys/files in it.
I currently have this in /etc/fstab:
/dev/sda8 /home/steven/sda8 vfat locale=en_US.utf8,windows_names,uid=500,gid=501,umask=0022,noatime 0 0

ext3 and df don't agree ?
I've taken my RH7.1 system, rebuild kernel (2.4.9 with ext3 patches) and
followed the ext3 instructions to install.
Everything seems to work OK but -
df -k
doesn't list the ext3 partition (my root partition).
Is this a known problem ?
If not, how best can I gather diagnostics to identify the source of the
problem ?
Thanks

Error: Had a bootloader specified, but no disks are bootable
Hi,
I copied my root filesystem from one box to a harddisk partition /dev/sda8.
I started fdisk /dev/sda and added a bootable flag to partition 8.
Then I mounted /dev/sda8, chrooted into it, and ran a grub-install hd0.
Then I unmounted it, and tried to start the PVM host, but it ends short

Large Filesystem + ext3: Missing Drive Space
Hi,
I just installed Redhat AS 2.1 on a a new machine with tons of RAID5
space. During the install, I created the partition/filesystem /largedisk
with 550784264 blocks. After everything is installed and mounted, I get
the following in a df:
/dev/sda8 550784264 32828 522773144 1% /largedisk
The avail + used != total, not even close. I realize that the 32828 is
probably the journal, but where could the other 25GB have gone?
Thanks,
Stephen

semi-formatted partition
Hello list,
I would like to share a little problem with you :
I've lost an 5Gb partition in an installation of Ututo GNU/Linux. It seems
that the installation script does not took care of my /home and it tried of
format it. When I saw that my old sda8 partition was being formatted as ext3
(fast format) I immediately, hard-restart my computer. After a run level 1
restart, I discovered that it was already formatted: only "lost and found"
was there. I haven't mount it or check it because I don't want to corrupt
more the FS. In the...

BTRFS partition won't mount
Hello all,
I recently had a power failure and can no longer mount my /home directory. The harddrive has two BTRFS partitions: sda7(/) and sda8(/home). The / partition loads up just fine, but /home does not. I''ve tried btrfsck as shown below and I''ve included dmesg pertaining to btrfs. This is on ArchLinux and the software versions are as follows:
btrfs-progs-unstable 0.19.20101006-1

If I ignore the build error and just go ahead and try to run the

Strange "feature"
...6 (!) slots per partition, with 2 nodes
configured twice, each with two different GUIDs.
Since documentation is rare for this kind of stuff, I sniffed around a little
bit and found out that these mappings are written to the first "line" of the
raw partition.
E. g. "head -n1 /dev/sda8" shows:
