zfs snapshot restarts scrubbing?
Hi, yesterday I implemented a simple hourly snapshot on my filesystems. I also regularly initiate a manual "zpool scrub" on all my pools. Usually the scrubbing will run for about 3 hours. But after enabling hourly snapshots I noticed that zfs scrub is always restarted if a new snapshot is created - so basically it will never have the chance to finish: # zpool scrub scratch # zpool

really large number of skipped files after a scrub
Hi, Just to follow up my first observation from this email from december: automatic scheduled scrubs that not happen. We have now upgraded glusterfs from 7.4 to 10.1, and now see that the automated scrubs ARE running now. Not sure why they didn't in 7.4, but issue solved. :-) MJ On Mon, 12 Dec 2022 at 13:38, cYuSeDfZfb cYuSeDfZfb <cyusedfzfb at gmail.com> wrote: > Hi, > > I a...

scrub percentage complete decreasing, but without snaps.
I''ve seen the problems with bug 6343667, but I haven''t seen the problem I have at the the moment. I started a scrub of a b72 system that doesn''t have any recent snapshots (none since the last scrub) and the % complete is cycling: scrub: scrub in progress, 69.08% done, 0h13m to go scrub: scrub in progress, 46.63% done, 0h28m to go scrub: scrub in progress, 6.36%

How to interrupt a zpool scrub?
Dear all Is there a way to stop a running scrub on a zfs pool? Same question applies to a running resilver. Both render our fileserver unusable due to massive CPU load so we''d like to postpone them. In the docs it says that resilvering and scrubbing survive a reboot, so I am not even sure if a reboot would stop scrubbing or resilvering. Any help greatly appreciated! Cheers, Thomas

pausing scrub crashed scrub daemon on nodes
Hi, I am using glusterfs 3.10.1 with 30 nodes each with 36 bricks and 10 nodes each with 16 bricks in a single cluster. By default I have paused scrub process to have it run manually. for the first time, i was trying to run scrub-on-demand and it was running fine, but after some time, i decided to pause scrub process due to high CPU usage and user reporting folder listing taking time. But scrub

Performance drop during scrub?
Hi all I have a test system with snv134 and 8x2TB drives in RAIDz2 and currently no Zil or L2ARC. I noticed the I/O speed to NFS shares on the testpool drops to something hardly usable while scrubbing the pool. How can I address this? Will adding Zil or L2ARC help? Is it possible to tune down scrub''s priority somehow? Best regards roy -- Roy Sigurd Karlsbakk (+47) 97542685 roy at

[PATCH] Btrfs-progs: make scrub IO priority configurable
The btrfs tool is changed in order to support command line parameters to configure the IO priority of the scrub tasks. Also the default is changed. The default IO priority for scrub is the idle class now. Some basic performance measurements have been done with the goal to measure which IO priority for scrub gives the best overall disk data throughput. The kernel was configured to use the CFQ IO

RAM security
Hi Everyone, In Xen, is a DomU able to access data in RAM which a previous DomU has stored in the past, but didn''t "zero" it? I understand that this is a problem with physical disks (using phy:/), just wondering if the same stands with RAM Thanks _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com

[PATCH] daemon: scrub-file: resolve the path before calling scrub (RHBZ#1099490).
Resolve the given path within the chroot, so scrub can be invoked outside the chroot on an already-resolved path. Given that realpath is used, its availability is checked manually, since scrub-file already depends on the "scrub" feature. Slightly ugly, but on the other hand realpath is generally available nowadays, so the check should not be failing. Add few tests in scrub-file for this

[PATCH] Btrfs: fix crash in scrub repair code when device is missing
Fix that when scrub tries to repair an I/O or checksum error and one of the devices containing the mirror is missing, it crashes in bio_add_page because the bdev is a NULL pointer for missing devices. Depth of Scrub
Hi, I have a small question about the depth of scrub in a raidz/2/3 configuration. I''m quite sure scrub does not check spares or unused areas of the disks (it could check if the disks detects any errors there). But what about the parity? Obviously it has to be checked, but I can''t find any indications for it in the literature. The man page only states that the data is being

scrub differs in execute time?

When to Scrub..... ZFS That Is
When would it be necessary to scrub a ZFS filesystem? We have many "rpool", "datapool", and a NAS 7130, would you consider to schedule monthly scrubs at off-peak hours or is it really necessary? Scrubbing only checks used data?
Hi there, I am currently evaluating OpenSolaris as a replacement for my linux installations. I installed it as a xen domU, so there is a remote chance, that my observations are caused by xen. First, my understanding of "zpool scrub" is "Ok, go ahead, and rewrite each block of each device of the zpool". Whereas "resilvering" means "Make
