libvirt POSTIN scriplet failure
While updating a CentOS 6 Xen domU server with yum I received the following
error:

After a reboot everything seems to run fine. Anything I should be
considered about?

Of course, the next question is: Is it possible to install Eclipse in a
way that doesn't require users to run "scl enable devtoolset-4 bash" in
a terminal? Or can selected software collections be enabled by default
in new sessions?

up2date dependency problem
Greetings, centos.
Looks like postinstall scriplet in CentOS4.4 distro requires
/sbin/restorecon utility, which in turn resides in policycoreutils
package. Meanwhile, up2date don't require policycoreutils.
It seems to that there is an error in dependencies for up2date.

/proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc/register: no such file or directory
I get this during booting? Anyone have any ideas?
I'm running redhat 7.1 w/ kernel 2.4.9-6 and the wine version from the
powertools cd.
Latest version of wine does it also.
I get this error when installing from redhat powertools too:
"execution of %post scriplet from wine 20010131-3 failed, exit status1"
but it installs and seems to work... just my windows service doesn't

multi-isp, dhcp provider and gateway type detect
I think we discussed this in the past and I floated a hack at the time,
but I don''t recall any real resolution. I want to see if time has
solved my problem or if it still exists.
My scenario is that I have two ISPs, one of which uses DHCP. Because I
have two ISPs, history has shown that allowing the provisioning script
for the interface to plumb a default route is troublesome and

If you haven't used "scl," and I hadn't before yesterday, it creates a
new session with environment variables set up to access applications
installed in a semi-isolated path. It can't be called from the bash
profile as far as I can tell, and its

Old and new package version numbers during RPM update
Hi CentOS folk,
In an RPM post-install script, is it possible to know the previous
version number, and the new version number of a package if it's an update?
I need to know this, because for a certain package, if updating from
version 1.x to 2.x, I need to run a program to convert the config file
of the package from version 1.x format to version 2.x format.
I've looked at SPEC file

I suspect the (heavy) use of procmail on Herr Frankbox is contributing to
either some lock "confusion" *OR* triggering dovecot to do "expensive" mbox
re-read/syncs or something?
There are mail-mulching scriplets in the global procmail (tied to spamassassin
results). Some daintily direct the dross to the /dev/null paradise in the sky.
Some "consume" the mail and redirect them to one of two or three folders
within mail/, while the "rest" allow procmail to append it to INBOX.
My question...

synthesizing yum transactions
Ok, I'm trying way too hard to shovel myself out of a hole.
We have a bunch of remote CentOS 6 servers, that were configured
with kickstart.
They've subsequently had additional RPMs installed/updated via the
'rpm' utility.
We have reason to occasionally rewind the state of the server back
to it's original set of RPMs.
Of late, we've found that 'yum' handles this

Dovecot namespace solved while writing; preparing to refilter
Hi!
My plea to readers:
===================
Pls., people who only want strictly technical issues to read, and frown
at any
broader context regardless how intrinsically related, but not strictly
technically related, it might be, skip all the way, all the way to,
search for
exact words: "strictly technical" or visually, find two lines of sole

characters. Thank you!
